Signs of Decay Some areas seemed well maintained and others in slight disrepair. There was some litter on the streets. The roads were not as well kept with potholes.
Parks and Recreational Areas The Mitchell Park Conservatory features jungle, desert, and seasonal flora. There are community gardens where residents are able to grow fruits and vegetables to share. There are several parks, including Walker’s Square Park with a playground, pool, farmer market and where community events are hosted.
Common Areas There are bars and restaurants in the area just south of the 3rd ward where people meet for social gatherings. There are churches, local and restaurant chains, school playground for gatherings. There is also Koz’s Mini Bowl, which is a bowling alley where children are also allowed to gather and play. Community center gym that is accessible by all teenagers, adolescents, middle age and older age adults and it is free to anyone.
