Within comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, I am primarily confident in recognizing clinical signs and symptoms of mental illness, differentiating between pathophysiological and psychopathological conditions, and performing and interpreting a mental status examination. Within psychotherapeutic treatment planning, I am confident in providing psychoeducation to individuals and caregivers and promoting health and disease prevention techniques. Additionally, I am confident in my self-assessment skills, which include developing SMART goals for practicum experience, evaluating outcomes of goals, modifying plans as necessary, and documenting and reflecting on learning experiences. Furthermore, I have developed strong professional skills such as maintaining professional boundaries and therapeutic relationships with clients and staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, identifying ethical and legal dilemmas with possible solutions, and more.

Opportunities for growth: Growth opportunities identified in my self-assessment include increasing my confidence in demonstrating knowledge of the psychopathology of mental illnesses through discussion for different age groups and mental illnesses, developing and prioritizing a differential diagnoses list, and formulating diagnoses according to DSM 5-TR based on assessment data. Additionally, I can improve my psychotherapeutic treatment planning skills, such as promoting health and disease prevention techniques, selecting and implementing appropriate screening instruments, and interpreting results. Building on my professional skills, I can increase my knowledge of ethical and legal dilemmas and their resolutions and deepen my practice of maintaining professional boundaries and a non-judgmental practice approach with clients. Continued growth in these areas will be essential for my practicum experience as they will better equip me to diagnose, assess, and treat patient’s mental health conditions. Now, write three to four (3–4) possible goals and objectives for this practicum experience. Ensure that they follow the SMART Strategy, as described in the Learning Resources. 1. Goal: Increase my confidence in demonstrating knowledge of the psychopathology of mental illnesses through discussion for different age groups and mental illnesses. a. Objective: Identify five primary mental health disorders, understand their causes and symptoms, and assess impacts on patient populations by the end of the practicum. b. Objective: Research and review literature regarding symptoms and treatments of the identified mental health disorders. c. Objective: Record progress in a reflection log to review later for successes, limitations, and struggles. 2. Goal: Increase my confidence in developing and prioritizing a differential diagnoses list. a. Objective: Research and review literature regarding possible differential diagnoses for five common presenting mental health concerns. b. Objective: Utilize the literature to formulate 3 suggestions for the appropriate diagnostic reasoning for referred patients. c. Objective: Situate the different diagnoses in five clinical scenarios and create a differential diagnosis of the presenting condition. 3. Goal: Enhance my applicability of formulating diagnoses according to DSM-5-TR a. Objective: Research and review literature regarding the DSM-5 criteria for
diagnosis. b. Objective: Descriptor analysis of case scenarios to match symptoms with a mental health diagnosis. c. Objective: Compare and contrast the diagnosis with other similar diagnoses. 4. Goal: Improve my psychotherapeutic treatment planning skills. a. Objective: Research and review literature regarding different treatment approaches for identified mental health disorders, including strengths and limitations. b. Objective: Recommend at least three different treatment plans for similar presenting conditions. c. Objective: Utilize the literature to create 3 suggested activities for psychoeducation for individual patients and their caregivers. Signature: Date: Course/Section:
