Professor and class,
Upon researching and reviewing “Use of Complementary Health Approaches for Pain by U.S. Adults Increased from 2002 to 2022” from National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, there were various alternative treatment methods discussed, such as yoga, massage therapy, naturopathy, and guided imagery/progressive muscle relaxation. An analysis was conducted regarding both an increase in overall use of these methods but also their use of techniques for management of pain. As found by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (2024), percentage of people choosing CAM for pain management, mainly due to the need to switch from opioid use, increased from 42.3 percent to 49.2 percent. The increase of insurance coverage with these alternatives has also contributed to more of the population turning to CAM options over medicinal approaches. And, there is some higher research suggesting some CAM has offered low to moderate pain levels as a non-opioid option for treatment. Though there is still a need for more research in each of these areas, a positive impact has begun for the future of options. Having grown up in the church by a pastor, there has been numerous messages regarding leaving
our traumatic events to God and let him handle them. We can work towards healing by applying the gospel to the process, building a solid foundation to stand. God comforts his children when they are suffering, as stated in Psalm 91:3-4, “For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from every disease, He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings” (NLT). Trauma can create a barrier to some when Scripture is involved, but the healing allows us to fulfill the gospel of our Savior. God knows and understands about the trauma we have experienced, as stated in Romans 1:18, “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness” (NLT), but as his children, we can take heart in knowing that God shelters us.
