The American Medical Association (AMA) has released changes to the CPT Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes and guidelines, set to go into effect Jan. 1, 2023. These changes build on the revisions to office/outpatient E/M codes in 2021 that emphasized medical decision-making and sought to reduce documentation burden. These E/M changes will affect hospital inpatients, observation care visits, consultations, emergency room visits, nursing facility services along with home, rest home, and domiciliary E/M codes. Read the article "2023 E/M Coding Changes" published by AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) using the following link: https://www.aapc.com/resources/evaluation- management-coding-changes-2023. 1.Why do you think these changes were necessary? 2. Provide four major changes/revisions of the E/M changes. Post your initial submission (about 250 words) by November 4th at 11:59 pm. In addition to your initial submission (worth 10 points), you are expected to review and comment on the responses of two other students. The two comments (each comment is worth 5 points) on the answers of other students are due on November 8th at 11:59 pm. "Nice job," or "I agree," by itself, does not count as a substantial comment.
