Should be used animals for making up medicines and vaccines? That’s my favorite topic has been in class so far and I want to research it carefully. I think the most heavily-debated part of this topic is coming up with arguments to convince the audience that animal experimentation not only has benefits but also has certain harms. The opinions expressed would be the reseason for a lot of discussions, as it is considered a longstanding method of medicine and biological research and has been used for decades. Nowadays, this method is still popular and widely applied in drug and vaccine experiments. The use of animals in research is essential for enabling researchers to develop new drugs and treatments. The use of animals in the lab has dramatically improved scientists' understanding of human biology and health. Animal models help ensure the effectiveness and safety of new treatments. According to the scientists, they strongly endorse the method of using animals, as most of them have remarkable similarities with humans such as DNA, organs, diseases, digestion, etc., which promote the promotion of animals. push experiments on animals. This is also the reason why scientists tend to use reagents on animals, especially mice. Because these diseases not only share the same structure, but the mechanism of action is also similar. Although the use of animals offers many benefits, it still sparks debates about humanity. And this is the reason why people need to pay more attention to this issue. Hundreds of drugs have been used on animals, especially mice, and rabbits, and thousands of mice and rabbits have died. So, when working on this topic I try to research the sources that mention the upside and downside, and I would use the article published by Gale, part of Cengage Group in 2021 https://link.gale.com/apps/doc/PC3010999220/OVIC?u=miam11506&sid=bookmark- OVIC&xid=95d6dd45 . I found it in the Opposing Viewpoints In Context section of the library research page. This is a great resource for reference on animal experiments. This source not only gave alternative methods but also passed rules about test subjects and the Animal Enterprise Protection Act. For instance, “Congress has enacted several pieces of legislation to regulate animal experimentation and prevent animal abuse, including the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), first passed as the Laboratory Animal Welfare Act in 1966”. As reported by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), 780,070 animals were used in experiments at USDA-registered facilities in the fiscal year 2018.”. This information is very useful to me because it is reliable information and has a clear location, issuer, and statistics. This article also provides information on experimental animals that have received little attention, such as chimpanzees. Until now, my thinking about this project has changed a lot. The first time, when working on this topic, I sided against the use of animals in experiments and I tried to find sources that only mentioned experimental boldness without going into the benefits it brings to human health and medicines. But when I did some assignments on finding different sources and researching them thoroughly to use in my writing, I got a more multidimensional view of animal research. I realized that animals have also played an important role in the advancement of research; several new drug discoveries have been made possible thanks to animal testing. So I looked for sources that mentioned the negative, the positive, and the alternatives so that anyone with a partial view of animal experimentation could gain a deeper understanding of the issue.
