Even after decades of focused research and debate, Kluge (2007) claims that there are still unanswered questions about how to distribute healthcare resources fairly and reasonably. The nature and status of material resources have been the only topics of discussion, with little attention paid to the nature and function of medical professionals, according to this article, which suggests that one of the primary causes of this is. Being the gatekeepers to healthcare resources, doctors are important in allocating resources. This essay finds three different interpretations of the nature of medicine and concludes that the allocation problem will remain unsolvable unless an appropriate model of medicine is developed that acknowledges the legitimate arguments made in each of the three approaches.
Kluge offers three different interpretations, the most prominent of which is the Hippocratic model, which reflects the notion that a physician should prioritize the best interests of the patient above all else, meaning that the physician's duty to each patient takes precedence over all other considerations. The social service model acknowledges the social environment in which medical treatment occurs but also the significance of societal concerns. Its primary interest is the condition of health in society. The business model takes into account that modern doctors operate in a variety of environments and that a balance between professional obligations and social and personal duties has to be struck. This paradigm states that the capacity of a patient to pay determines their eligibility for healthcare resources. This is how the healthcare system in my country has been adopted and is being run. This has been impacted by the failure of government-run public hospitals and clinics due to poor management and corruption. It is well recognized that by transforming raw materials like instruments, organs, blood, and pharmaceuticals into useful resources, healthcare professionals—who are human resources—contribute
significantly to the distribution of healthcare resources. Because there will always be problems with resource allocation due to the fact that the demand for healthcare will always exceed supply, the performance of these healthcare professionals has an impact on how resources are allocated.
The shortage of essential pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, along with overworked and underpaid staff, has been plaguing my country's healthcare system for years. The system is in horrible shape. In recent years, physicians and nurses working in public hospitals have gone on strike many times to protest their poor salary, which often falls below $10. The few workers who have continued to work at government hospitals that house the majority of the impoverished feel overworked as a result of their departure from these state-run institutions and the opening of their own private clinics, hospitals, and surgeries.
With the proliferation of private clinics and hospitals around the nation, the ill are left at the mercy of greedy medical professionals whose costs are far higher than those of the majority of the people. Presently seen as "death traps," public hospitals are the only place where patients may get better, and the nation's whole healthcare system is now a business run by private entities. For the typical person, health care is out of reach. Since the patient's ability to pay for healthcare resources determines their eligibility, many new mothers are detained repeatedly for not making their medical payments.
