Contraindications for polyethylene glycol are patients with low amounts of calcium, sodium, or potassium in the blood, serve ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon, colon inflammation cause by toxic substances, or blocked bowels with decreased peristaltic movement. This medication has an onset of action time for oral consumption of 24 to 96 hours. Common side effects for this medication include bloating, gas, upset stomach, dizziness, or increase sweating.
