S HORT A NSWER R ESPONSE A SSIGNMENT I NSTRUCTIONS Madison Oltmanns September 18, 2023 Short Answer Response: Kinematics Assignment The laboratory exercise for this chapter addresses kinematic motion. You have experienced these motions in everyday life. Instead of a discussion requiring posts in a thread, this assignment has been modified to accept your response to the following questions in this assignment. Be sure to clearly address each of the points below and show all of your work. What is the difference between acceleration and velocity? Velocity is the rate of change of displacement. Acceleration Is rate change of velocity. Show the kinematic equation for an object in free-fall. Be sure to define each of the variables. v is the velocity at time t v 0 is the initial velocity of object during free fall. g is the acceleration due to gravity t is the time y is the position at time t y 0 is the initial position. and y - y 0 is the distance or height let that is s if velocity is 0 v =− g×t s =− v 0 ×t 1 2 ×g×t 2 v 2 = v 2 0 2 ×g×s v = v 0 g×t s = v 0 ×t 1 2 ×g×t 2 v 2 = v 2 0 2 ×g×s For a building having a height equal to the twice the quantity you have recorded for Day in meters (in our example of July 15, this would be 2x15 = 30 meters), compute the time
required for the ball to fall to the ground while experiencing acceleration due to gravity (g=9.8m/s2). Show all work. t 2 = 60 9.8 t = 6.1224 t = 2.474 s v = 9.8 × 30 v = 17.146 m / s ________________________________________________________________ Short Answer Response: Newton’s Law Assignment Write Newton's 2nd law of motion. F = ma where F is the force applied on the object, m is the mass of the object, Write the equation for centripetal force. The equation for centripetal force is: F = m * a_c where F is the centripetal force, m is the mass of the object moving in a circular path, and a_c is the centripetal acceleration of the object. Write the Month and Day of the Assignment Due Date. For example, if the assignment is due on July 15th, then Month=7, Day=15 . Due September 18 th For an object having a mass of 10 times the day given in the previous section (for our example of July 15 th , the mass would be 10x15=150kg), calculate the weight of the object on the moon assuming acceleration due to gravity on the moon is 1.6 m/s 2 Show all your work. mass = 10 × 15 kg Weight is the force exerted by the gravitational field on an object with a certain mass. The formula to calculate weight is: Weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity On the moon, the acceleration due to gravity is 1.6 m/s^2. Therefore, the weight of an object with a mass of 50 kg on the moon can be calculated as: Weight = 150 kg x 1.6 m/s^2 Weight = 240 N
Find an example of a physical force from within the New Testament and discuss the example. Be sure to provide the scripture reference. Physical force means an event that occurred during biblical times, not a spiritual force. One example of physical force in the New Testament can be found in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 21 , verses 12−13 , where Jesus clears the temple of merchants and money changers. In this passage, Jesus physically drives out merchants and money changers from the temple, which was meant to be a place of worship and prayer. With a whip, he overturned their tables and drove them out of the temple, showing his righteous anger at their greed and disrespect.
