Technology in the Classroom Shakira Mitchell ELM-510 Dr. Myers Grand Canyon University

Reflection Technology is the way of life in 2024, everyone uses it. Whether we’re swiping our debit card, paying our bills or chatting with friends near and far, we are using a form. Technology supports learning for all students in the classroom and at home by one, being able to utilize Online platforms, educational and learning management systems (LMS). Teachers are able to communicate with students through a Clever portal or Google Classroom, posting assignments, test, links, pdf etc. with just one click whether they’re at home or in the classroom. These forms of learning management systems create independency, create structure and provide digital literacy which is needed in the everyday world. Students are also able to have access to OER, Open Educational Resources, this provides them with websites like PBSKids, Lexia, IXL, i- Ready, BoomCards, all websites that students can utilize from their at-home Wi-Fi while still learning when the teacher is not having whole group lessons. Students also have access to websites like Epic! This is a website that has 1,000s of books that students can read from when they do not have access to a library. I have been using all of these findings in my present practice; however, Giant Steps is a great resource that I did not know much about. Creating engagement and encouragement between students is the perfect website to utilize inside of my classroom. When students aren’t able to give themselves that motivation, a high-five or good job from their peers may be the perfect thing for them.
