RE: 2025 Midland Ave. Toronto, Ontario
This Letter is to certify that the Registered Owner(s), Namely “Midland Medical Centre” which is considered a Highrise building having 1 underground floor and 4 above grade
; acknowledges that the proposed use of the building as indicated on the permit application noted is solely for the purpose of “Chang of Use”
from a Medical Centre
which currently contains the following: First floor (Ground Floor): Health club (101), Library (102), Restaurants (103), and Place of
Worship with seats (104), and the rest of the floors are medical offices to a Long-Term Care Facility
the client wants to keep the first floor “as is” and change the other floors into sleeping rooms and the South Wing of the fourth storey into an exhibition area with sales. and for the New Use of the Building to be in compliance with Building Codes, The City Zoning Bylaw and any other applicable laws, the following changes are proposed, and the project will be overseen by the contracted Architect. Part 2 (# 2)
As a group we have learnt to navigate the Ontario Building Code much better now that we have completed section 2 and read the full 157 first pages of chapter 3, however, we think it can be divided into better sections without having to flip back and forth between Chapters and Subsections, it gets very confusing and overwhelming. As for the project itself, we believe
that prior to starting any project, you may want to consider whether you want to change the Building Use in the future and perhaps you may want to make it compliance for a more rigid Group Type, and it can save you time and money, like Midland Medical Centre, they thought ahead of time and the original construction covered a lot of details for a Rigid Group Type.
It is great to work as a group, specially if you get along it makes it easier to work and there is no pressure on anyone, whoever get to a section first it makes the Team move forward. We enjoyed working together as a Team.
Kind regards,

A classroom that normally contains 40 people is to be air-conditioned with window air-conditioning units of
5 KW cooling capacity. A person at rest may be assumed to dissipate heat at a rate of about 360 KJ/hr.
There are 10 light bulbs in the room, each with a rating of 100 watts. The rate of heat transfer to the
classroom through the walls and the windows is estimated to be 15,000 KJ/hr. If the room air is to be
maintained at a constant temperature of 21°C, determine the number of window air-conditioning units
required.

Part A
Some tire stores claim that filling your car tires with pure, dry nitrogen is much better than using plain air. They make the following claims.
1. The pressure inside N₂-filled tires does not rise or fall with temperature changes.
2. Nitrogen leaks out of tires much more slowly than air because the N₂ molecules are bigger.
3. Nitrogen is not very reactive, and moisture and O₂ in air cause corrosion that shortens tire life by 25-30%
Evaluate the claim as a whole.
Check all that apply.
Claim passes falsifiability test.
Claim passes logic test.
Claim passes replicability test.
Claim passes sufficiency test
Claim fails all four FLaReS tests.

Question 3
You are working on a design team at a small orthopaedic firm. Your team is starting to work on a lower limb
(foot-ankle) prosthesis for individuals who have undergone foot amputation (bone resection at the distal tibia). You remember hearing
about "osseointegration" in an exciting orthopaedic engineering class you attended at Clemson, so you plan to attach the foot
prosthesis using a solid metal rod inserted into the distal tibia. You think stainless steel or titanium alloy might be a useful rod material.
You decide to begin this problem by identifying typical tibial bone anatomy and mechanical behavior (as provided in the tables and
image below). You assume the tibial bone can be modeled as a hollow cylinder of cortical bone, as represented in the image. You
anticipate the length of the rod will be 1/2 the length of the tibia.
Q3G: Critical Thinking: What would you propose to your team as the next step in this analysis? Is it reasonable to assume the rod
will experience the…

XYZ Company Ltd has consulted your firm Zig-Zag Energy over an intention to generate electricity in Ghana. Being the senior project engineer for Zig-Zag Energy, management has asked you to prepare a detailed technical report in respect to the project.
a) Discuss the major factors to take into consideration when consulting on such projects.
A tank containing air is stirred by a paddle wheel.
The work input to the paddle wheels is 2000KJ and the heat transferred to the surrounding from the tank is 6000KJ.
b) Determine the change in the internal energy of the system
There has been a sharp differences between the board of Blue-Blue Energy over which of the energy sources (hydroelectric power plant-HEP and Coal fired plant) is best for power generation. As an energy expert, you were confronted by the debating faction for your opinion. You…

An increasing number of Americans are moving to a warmer climate when they retire. To take advantage of this trend, Sunny Skies Unlimited is undertaking a major real-estate development project. The project is to develop a completely new retirement community (to be called Pilgrim Haven) that will cover several square miles. One of the decisions to be made is where to locate the two paramedic stations that have been allocated to the community to respond to medical emergencies. For planning purposes, Pilgrim Haven has been divided into five tracts, with no more than one paramedic station to be located in any given tract. Each station is to respond to all the medical emergencies that occur in the tract in which it is located as well as in the other tracts that are assigned to this station. Thus, the decisions to be made consist of (1) the tracts to receive a paramedic station and (2) the assignment of each of the other tracts to one of the paramedic stations. The objective is to minimize…

A Team of Engineers asked for an internal combustion engine to use it in a designed car. Your role is to describe the operation sequence of different types of available engines, explain their mechanical efficiency, and deliver a detailed technical report to show your approach in solving and discussing the following tasks and issues.
You must follow the following steps to help the team:
STEP 1
Describe the operational sequence of four-stroke spark ignition and four-stroke compression ignition engines with the aid of sketches by constructing simple sketch representing the operation and plotting the P-V diagrams for each process during the cycle to show the following:
The input and output heat and net output work
The expansion and compression strokes
The air-fuel mixture intake and exhaust gasses
The spark plug when it is in the active mode
The complete cycle of ideal Otto and Diesel cycles that shows the input and output heat and net output work.
STEP 2
Explain the mechanical…
