Some factors that can be considered to help improve body alignment are keeping your shoulders back, this keeps your chest open and allows more room in your chest cavity. When sitting, try not to slouch because it can cause improper digestion and kyphosis of the upper spine. Keeping the spine in a neutral position when doing certain activities to limit the excess stress on it. Describe why it is important to maintain proper alignment during physical activity. (10 pts.) a. Proper alignment is important during physical activity because if you are unaligned, it can cause unnecessary stress on certain joints and cause injury. Like in a squat, if you are arching your lower back due to an anterior pelvic tilt, the higher you go up in weight in a squat the more stress you will be putting on your lumbar spine. I personally have a hip adduction on my right side, so my right hip is slightly higher than my left. This goes up and affects my shoulder as well. My right shoulder is higher than my left shoulder. I do have scoliosis which is the main cause of these lifted areas. Stretching and strengthening different areas of my body can help slightly but there really is not much I can do about it. 2
