Research Question
The average whole milk price is $4.34. The average for organic whole milk is $4.83 in 30 big cities. My sample will show 30 different city's prices of whole milk and organic whole milk. To determine the hypothesis test, I will use a significance of 0.05. The hypothesis question is “In the long run, is it better to
purchase organic whole milk or whole milk?”
Rationale
This topic came to me because recently, inflation has been way out of proportion than it should really be
due to the economic circumstances the US and most likely the rest of the world is dealing with. Milk and
bread are the 2 most important items to have on any grocery list. Things that are necessary like milk shouldn’t have to be more expensive if you’re just trying to be healthy as well. Population
The sample is the 30 different cities' prices of both types of milk. The population is in every city that is in the USA. Variables
The variables I will be using are the mean and standard deviation of both sets of data because these can change when the prices change. All the prices I’ve found in my sample for both types of milk are also my variables because they are only based on this year and can change when inflation changes.
Sampling
I did the sample by looking into randomly selected cities and seeing what their prices are for both types of milk. This means I did a simple random sample.
Limitations
The only confounding variable I could see is that some of these numbers are potentially incorrect. If I used the right kind of multiple websites I investigated, the prices found should be correct.
Data Display
A bar graph will be used to show the two sets of data along with a chart that shows the mean, and standard deviation for both sets of data. I will also show my table for prices in each city prices for both kinds of milk. Method
I’ve selected the two-sample t-test.
