Post-Presentation Reflection: Data Visualization (due after your presentation) Due Date: Within 2 class sessions following your presentation date Be detailed and specific in your explanations.
To submit this assignment: Go to the upper right corner and click "Submit Assignment." You may want to type your responses in a Word document and then copy/paste it into the text box provided. Please number your responses (by question number) rather than writing one long paragraph. Use complete sentences.
1) Copy and paste the website URL of the infographic(s) and article(s) you shared in your presentation. -
https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-covid-19/issue-brief/the-implications-of-covid-19-for-
mental-health-and-substance-use/
-
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6932a1.htm?s_cid=mm6932a1_w
2) Write a brief summary of highlights, observations, and any questions you had about the infographic(s) you presented.
-
Throughout my slide show presentation the infographics shown come from the KFF analysis from the Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey it explores mental health and
substance use during, and prior to, the COVID-19 pandemic. The surveys focused on populations that were particularly at risk for experiencing negative mental health or substance abuse consequences during the pandemic, including young adults, people experiencing job loss, parents and children, communities of color, and essential workers. The only question that I would ask is if they expect to see a decline or increase in mental health and or substance abuse cases once the pandemic over or near the end? 3) Please describe the source(s) of the data for your infographic and whether the data was relatively current (within the past 5 years)? If the infographic wasn't current, please explain how you were able to provide the class with a brief update of more current information related to your
infographic topic.

KFF
(Kaiser Family Foundation
) is a nonprofit organization focusing on national health issues, as well as the U.S. role in global health policy. KFF
serves as a nonpartisan source
of facts, analysis and journalism for policymakers, the media, the health policy community and the public. The data that I presented was very current as all the surveys were taken in 2019 to 2021.. 4) Why was the infographic you chose interesting to you? Please be detailed and specific in your explanation.
-
As a person who has struggled with anxiety and depression for many years, it has always been a topic I feel as if I can relate to. I recently just lost my uncle to suicide last week, so
by doing this presentation it made me find some type of comfort in a way to know that there are alot of people who are struggling each and everyday. It was very interesting to
see how many people there really are who suffer from depression and anxiety daily and how many aspects of our lives take a huge role in what we feel. 5) How does your presentation connect to what you have been learning in Math 140? Please be detailed and specific in your explanation.
-
My presentation has connected to what I have learned in Math 140 in the aspect that I now know how to read a graph properly. I can distinguish what the graph is trying to interrupt when there are multiple surveys being taken. Also this math 140 class has helped me determine what graphs are more accurate than others. 6) What were the highlights of presenting and sharing your infographic with the class?
-
The main highlights of presenting and sharing my infographic with the class would have to be all the commentary I recieved. It was nice to hear all the nice comments on how well they thought my presentation was done. I also liked how we went through my presentation and talked about the graphs, it helped to gain a better understanding on what graphs to choose versus those not to. 7) How could you have improved your presentation?
-
I believe I could have shortened my presentation a tad bit more. I think it may have been a little easier to follow as I had a lot of information to get my point and all the information across. 8) On a scale of 1-100, what is the grade you feel you earned on this assignment?
-
On a scale from 1-100 I feel as if I earned in the high 80’s or low 90’s. Include the reasons that support the grade you stated. (Consider both the class presentation and the quality of your responses to questions 1-7 above)
-
I feel as if I earned in the high 80’s or low 90’s. Reasons as to why I think I deserve this grade because I put a lot of thought into which infographic I chose as well as doing a pretty good job at getting my point across as well as giving the information that was needed. I wouldn't give myself full credit only because I feel like I dragged on a bit at times but it was a little hard for me because there was a lot for me to discuss to make sure
all the statistics were given.
