A Chick-fil-A Valentine's promotion will result in a higher number of people redeeming the promotion compared to a discount code. Experiment Description (5 points) Describe your experiment in 5-7 sentences and include a potential limitation. In this field experiment, participants in Austin are randomly assigned to either the Discount Code Group or the Valentine’s Promotion Group. The Chick-fil-A Valentine's Promotion Group will receive a unique code to redeem a special Valentine's Day box heavily promoted through advertisements in Austin for one week. The Discount Code Group will receive a straightforward discount code for a percentage off their order for another week, promoted through the same platform in Austin. The goal is to track the number of redemptions for both the Chick-fil-A Valentine's promotion and the discount code using Chick-fil-A's point-of-sale system and online ordering platform to see if the thematic Valentine's promotion leads to a higher number of redemptions compared to the straightforward discount code. A potential limitation of this experiment is the risk of contamination, groups seeing both promotions. To address this limitation, we will make the coupon and promotion only redeemable online allowing for better tracking of participants using each method. Additionally, post-experiment surveys will be conducted to gather insights from participants regarding their awareness of other promotions and
