1. Bright Minds Toys Co. is launching a new educational playset designed to enhance problem-solving skills in children aged 3-5. The company is seeking to silently observe how children engage with the playset in a controlled environment, like a preschool or a daycare center, without any guidance or intervention from adults or researchers. Observational Research : this is most appropriate because children could get distracted or change their behavior if they knew people were watching. Also asking them questions you might not get valid responses. 2. GlamourGlow , a cosmetics company, has noticed a disparity between the sales figures and the less than enthusiastic social media sentiment around one of their flagship products. They suspect customers may not be openly sharing their true feelings due to brand loyalty and are seeking subtle methods to capture their honest opinions. Projective Technique : This is most appropriate here because their trying to understand their true feelings and honest opinions and when using projective techniques, you can indirectly ask questions towards participants to get raw feeling, opinions, or beliefs on the product. 3. Tetron , a luxury car brand, is seeing a decline in customer satisfaction scores. They wish to understand the complex relationships and emotional attachments customers have with their vehicles, beyond what standard surveys and questionnaires reveal, such as delving into their personal stories, experiences, and emotions related to their vehicles. In-depth Interview : This is most appropriate here because the participants have already don’t the surveys and questionnaires related to this topic and the researchers are wanting to understand the “why” on a deeper level. In this case they want to do interviews to understand their emotions towards their cars. 4. TechEase Solutions , an emerging mobile technology company, is in the final stages of developing a user-friendly app. Before finalizing the features, they want to ensure they meet the diverse needs and preferences of potential users, which seems to be best captured in a dynamic, discussion-rich setting. Focus Group: This is most appropriate here because in a focus group you can interact and socialize with other people in a more open-ended environment. This is good for an emerging technology because you can understand consumer behavior in the group. They can talk about their thoughts and feeling together about and new ideas that could be beneficial here. 5. Urban Vogue Apparel wants to revolutionize its next clothing line to capture the authentic lifestyle of urban millennials. The brand is planning to create a collection that resonates deeply with the values and ethos of this demographic. To achieve this, Urban Vogue Apparel is considering embedding their designers into the heart of the city's young adult culture. The designers would live and interact within various millennial communities, attending events, frequenting popular local spots, and even adopting the community's daily routines. This immersive experience aims to provide the design team
with a nuanced perspective of the demographic's fashion influences and lifestyle choices, far beyond what traditional market research could offer. Ethnography: This is most appropriate here because they are trying to understand the lifestyle of their consumer and how social and cultural influences affect their purchase behavior and values. They talk heavily about culture along with other demographics and emerge themself in their community to deeper understand their customer. 6. LifePharm Inc. wants to thoroughly understand the patient journey for those taking their new diabetes medication. They're looking to follow a small number of patients over a period of time, documenting their experiences, treatment effects, and lifestyle changes in a comprehensive report. Case Study: This is most appropriate here because they can follow a smaller number of peoples experiences and treatment over a long period of time. They are awanting to understand how the new medication is working and to do that you must look at a few situations. 7. SubCulture Interactive is a digital marketing agency that aims to infiltrate the digital spaces where model train hobbyist groups congregate, such as specific forums and social media platforms. They want to analyze the content, communication styles, and behavioral patterns within these communities to inform a targeted marketing strategy.
