1. What is a focus group and why might a company conduct one? A focus group is a tool used by a company to determine why consumers buy certain products or choose certain brands. It is mainly focused on the nature of people's preferences and thoughts. A company may use a focus group to better understand the consumer and their reasoning for buying a particular product. This, in turn, would later develop into new ideas for products and marketing based on the consumer habits of the buyer/customer. 2. What are the downfalls of focus groups? The downfall of the focus groups would be something called observer interference. It’s when whoever is involved in the focus group is conscious to know they are in a focus group/experiment. Causing their answers and opinions to be swayed. 3. What is the role of a moderator/facilitator in a focus group? The role of a moderator/facilitator in a focus group is to probe the group for deeper answers to get a better understanding of the participant. They are also there to guide the discussion and to see and watch how their answer can be influenced. Those are the roles of facilitators/Moderators in a focus group. 4. What kinds of questions or prompts should be asked in a focus group? The kinds of questions or prompts typically asked in a focus group would be things like sharing your opinion on a certain product. Or how does one feel about an advertisement in an emotional way or even asked to participate in an imaginative scenario? Which is necessary in order to reveal important information about a participant's feelings. 1. What would be some of the benefits and disadvantages of dockless bike-sharing for consumers and communities? Some of the benefits and disadvantages for consumers and communities of dockless bike-sharing would be the breaching of the terms of service. As in, people strip and break down the bike to use for absolutely free and use it however they like. A Benefit to support consumers and communities would be that they are convenient in the city where traveling by car is morely supported than bike riding, for example, in san Francisco, as shown in the video. These are some of the benefits/disadvantages posed by the dockless bike-sharing.
2. What factors are Uber managers likely to consider when selecting new markets to enter with Is it a dockless bike-sharing service? Some factors that are most likely to be considered when selecting a market to enter when it comes to the dockless bike would be the physical Health market. Because people who use bikes are using them to be proactive or for transportation other than walking. So for that, another market that Uber should consider would be environmental sustainability because dockless bikes align with the growing trend in an eco-friendly way of transportation. 3. On its face, there would seem some overlap between the target markets for Uber’s auto ride-sharing service and its new bike-sharing service. Is it smart for Uber to be cannibalizing sales from its auto ride- sharing service by introducing dockless bike-sharing? No, I don’t think it is smart for Uber to cannibalize sales from its auto- ride-sharing service by introducing dockless bike-sharing. Because from the look of it’s already having problems from theft of property to vandalism to breaking the parts down to sell for parts. Even if you're still being charged for not being plugged In, someone could easily lock their way of payment and run off with a free bike. Or even leave the bike on the ground for the next person all torn and used which in general would cost the company a lot to replace and repair.
