Effective SCM can help streamline a company's activities to eliminate waste, maximize customer value, and gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace (Fernando, 2023).” I work in the pharmaceutical industry where my job ships out medication to patients whether they are at home, nursing home or being cared for elsewhere. “ Express Scripts is a leading pharmacy benefit management (PBM) company that plays a crucial role in the healthcare industry. As a PBM, Express Scripts works as an intermediary between health insurers, pharmacies, and patients, managing prescription drug benefits on behalf of its clients. The company provides services such as formulary management, claims processing, home delivery pharmacy, and specialty pharmacy services. With a vast network of retail pharmacies, mail-order pharmacies, and specialty pharmacies, Express Scripts ensures that patients have access to affordable, safe, and effective medications (Colos, 2023).” So, lately due to the high demand of people not wanting to go outside because of Covid- 19 a lot of medications are out of stock. An effective supply management strategy is to make sure you can reach these different manufacturers and maintain stock. If the medications are not in stock for the patients, it will affect the financial stability of the organization. The positive impact of supply chain management is being a pharmaceutical organization which medications are in high demand. People need medicine to survive but it is important for the organization to make sure there are no supply issues. Relationships with manufacturers should help the organization by making sure the businesses are kept afloat. Financial plans are important to make sure we have the financials to supply these medications until we receive compensation.
