Subject: Purpose and Benefit of Organizational Change
Good evening, Omar,
Recently you reached out to our HR Inbox asking why we are experiencing weekly changes here at IMF Plastics. We thank you for reaching out to us with your question. It is important to state we understand change within an organization can be challenging, especially for a team member who has been with the organization for several years. However, challenging or even unsettling it may be change within an organization is purposeful and beneficial. “Organizational change is important for the growth or transformation of a business” (Indeed Editorial Team, 2023). Our HR department along with organization leadership believes for IMF Plastics, change is necessary to remain competitive as well as relevant within our industry. Lastly, we want you to understand “change can be an exciting time for companies to re-evaluate their processes, improve corporate culture and maintain long-term viability” (Indeed Editorial Team, 2023). You have worked for this organization for 25 years and we are grateful for your years of service and for sticking with us through the various changes during that time. Our stakeholders, team members, customers, vendors/contractors, and our business itself, have continues to grow and to ensure we are meeting the needs of everyone impacted by this growth,
it is important that we pay attention to and make the right decisions which could lead to additional changes to ensure the impact felt by our stakeholders is positive. Subject: Communication and Support Methods to Coach Employees
Good evening, Devon,
Thank you for reaching out to our HR Inbox. We received your concerns as the department manager for one of our team members who is having trouble with mentoring our younger employees. We believe coaching and mentoring our employees is a role for all organizational leaders. We also believe using team members to coach and mentor younger employees can be beneficial but understand there may be challenges in attempting to do so. Regarding Omar’s feelings that the younger employees don’t listen to him or value his advice, we have a few suggestions which may be useful. Omar could steer away from providing advice or even constructive feedback first and instead begin with “congratulating the employee on their previous successes and highlighting their strengths” (Herrity, 2023). By recognizing an
employee’s strengths and successes, Omar is developing their trust. This creates a space for him to encourage the employee to continue building on those strengths and discuss skills which require further strengthening. Omar could also begin by asking “the employee for their perspective” (Herrity, 2023). Involving the employees by getting them to discuss areas they would like to grow or work on creates an open dialogue, which in turn “improves the employees’
engagement” (Herrity, 2023) in the time Omar is spending with them. Lastly, once the employee has discussed areas, they’d like to work on improving, Omar can “collaborate on solutions” (Herrity, 2023) with the employee. For example, if the employee struggles with putting together presentations, a good solution could be additional training on using software like Power Point, Canva, or Google Slides. Hopefully these suggestions are of some help for Omar and his coaching and mentoring our younger employees. By providing effective coaching, Omar could be setting himself or one of those he’s mentoring up for a potential leadership role. is going to stop. Change can be frustrating, especially if it is not properly communicated and if the impacted individuals are not appropriately prepared. Organizational change is inevitable, but it is also beneficial. “Change can help a business stay current with industry trends” (Joseph, 2019). By remaining current with the trends, the organization remains competitive, which is of benefit to current customers, as well as appealing to potential customers. “Change can increase the efficiency of work processes” (Joseph, 2019). This efficiency can create less stress for employees and greater customer satisfaction. “Personnel change in an organization can have a positive effect on employee attitudes and morale” (Joseph, 2019). Better attitudes and boosted morale can enhance corporate culture and create healthier working relationships. These are just a few benefits to organizational change.
