1 Chapter 7, Case Study 7.1 Site Security and Secure Escorts By Gary Quick Park University Change Management and Conflict Resolution (HRM 636)
2 What are the variables and relationships? The model that I established is founded on the concept of cause and effect, where each variable can heavily influences the others in ways. The variables are, input (which specifies the resources, like material, financial and human resources), that are provided to the organization, processes (meaning the way the organization uses it activities and executes it), output (the end results of the organization's activities, like the goods and services it produces) and its outcome (the overall impact of the undertakings on its stakeholders, including customers, employees, and shareholders). How do they relate to each other? Inputs influences the process and then influence its outputs and finally outcomes. Thus, Inputs – process – outputs = outcomes. In what directions are the influences? Inputs influences the process. Then the process influences its outputs. Finally, the outcome is the ending activity for which all is measured. Are the results surprising to you? Not in the least. This model is usually comprised when considering organizational functions. Are any of the relationships unexpected? No as this type of model is direct and to the point. It represents a basic six-sigma IPO (input, process, output) way of thinking and approach. Six Sigma is a set of methodologies and tools used to improve business processes by reducing defects and errors, minimizing variation, and increasing quality and efficiency. The variables of its inputs, processes, outputs, and outcomes are all related in some way and can directly influences each other in various ways (Kumar,
3 2019). A six-sigma approach can be more detailed (if needed) but this model can be used to help an organization understand their own functionality for making necessary improvements to start.
