Project Management Strategies 2 After reviewing the process for tea production, I have established there are a few steps that are unnecessary and not efficient for the business. The first step that can be removed from this process is repeatedly weighing the tea leaves during each process. This does not need to happen, and it would be more efficient if they were weighed for a second time during the packaging phase to ensure each tea bag is the proper amount. Although the leaves arrive in 50kg bags, you must take into consideration that this will change once the leaves are processed, dried and the damaged ones are removed. This step can be changed without causing and harm to the overall process. Quality control is an extremely important part of a successful process. The following steps can be merged into one step for more efficiency and better productivity: leaves are removed from trays and reweighed; poor-quality leaves are thrown away, leaves are visually inspected, and poor-quality leaves are thrown away. To improve the sustainability of the process the step where the boxes are wrapped in plastic after being sealed up can be removed. This will help the company’s sustainability because it will cut back on their plastic usage. It would be beneficial for them to use recycled materials to pack the tea inside of and encouraging those packaging materials be recycled. Considering employing the ideal usage of green packaging materials “can also play a role in the amount of energy it takes to package a product or to make the actual packaging. It can reduce solid waste, water usage, electricity, and emissions” (Roberge, 2018). I would also consider changing how the actual tea bags are packaged. Packaging them in paper bags then wrapping them in plastic also creates excessive waste. This will add more problems to our landfill, the air, and ultimately our overall environment. Using reusable materials in the tea production will eliminate a great amount of waste in the manufacturing process. This will improve the company by pleasing the

Project Management Strategies 3 consumers because they will know the company is doing their part in maintaining a healthy environment. During the process elimination phase there will be pros and cons while evaluating. The pros will be an increase in productivity, focusing on areas that need improvement, and less material waste. The cons will be the implementation of eco-friendly products for the manufacturing process will cost more. Add in the training that will need to take place to move forward with the process changes and that will also be time consuming and considered a potential risk for the company. The goal is to align the triple bottom line and become environmentally conscious, while also maintaining a sustainable workflow process. This will all need to be considered. These are the following concerns for the Issue Log :  The stakeholders are experiencing confusion regarding their roles. They need open communication, and the roles and responsibilities of the roles need to be defined.  The shiny foil packaging does not align with the company’s sustainability goals and plans. It is important to stick to the plan of implementing eco-friendly materials to attract more consumers.  The procurement department wanting to triple the budget is an unlikely request. It’s a great idea but not practical at the moment. I would suggest setting a meeting to further discuss in detail compromises that can be proposed for increases in the budget.
