The author shows the scenario of hybrid work emerging as a better solution to the problem of post-pandemic return to in-person office. Employees prefer hybrid work backed up by the data from surveys however some challenges may arise with this setup such as an imbalance in the working environment. Summary The article discusses the transition from remote work to hybrid work models as a way to reintroduce in-person offices after the COVID-19 pandemic. The author uses the survey data from Leesman and some insights from industry experts to give a better understanding of the current situation in many workplaces. The article further focuses on the issues regarding the hybrid work model such as unfair flexible schedules between employees, challenges in holding meetings in a hybrid environment, and the feeling of being disconnected socially. Even though many employees prefer the hybrid work setup, due to lack of conviction among the employers may result in establishing the traditional office settings for some companies. Chief human resources officer of SCB (Standard Chartered Bank), Tanuj Kapilashrami believed that the issues related to hybrid work setup can be solved. She further added that her company approaches differently where they analyze which work can be done remotely and inquire about the preferences of employees. By this, they figured out the task for each person while still meeting the organization’s agendas. On top of that using the data, they can see how the hybrid setup works out and if it affects any important sector like satisfaction of employees and their proper career growth.
