Introduction Explain how an organization's future plans impact the organizational culture. Organizational future plans have a significant impact on the organizational culture as they set the direction and goals for the company. The future plans, such as new product development, expansion into new markets, or a shift in strategy, can create excitement and motivation among employees, leading to a positive culture. In contrast, plans for layoffs or downsizing can create fear and uncertainty, resulting in a negative culture. Walmart, as one of the largest retailers in the world, has many opportunities to offer in terms of future plans and what that contains in great detail. These opportunities can and will have a significant impact on the daily work tasks of employees. Discuss how organizational behavior concepts apply in the case study. Organizational behavior concepts such as motivation, communication, leadership, and teamwork apply in the case study. For instance, the company's plans for expansion can motivate employees to work harder and be more productive. Effective communication of these plans can ensure that employees understand the company's vision and feel a sense of belonging. Good leadership can inspire and guide employees towards achieving the company's goals, while teamwork can foster collaboration and innovation. Locke (as cited by Saari and Judge, 2004, p396) defined motivation as “a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job experiences”. According to David and Anderzej (2010), motivation can be understood as cognitive decision making in which the intension is to make the behavior that is
aimed at achieving a certain goal through initiation and monitoring. One of the keyways Walmart can use behavior concepts to shape its future plans is by creating a positive work environment. By fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and innovation, Walmart can attract and retain talented employees who are motivated to contribute to the company's success. How do the events in the case study affect the employees' daily work tasks? The events in the case study can affect employees' daily work tasks in various ways. For instance, the company's plans for expansion can mean new projects, assignments, and roles, leading to changes in job responsibilities and workloads. Additionally, a shift in strategy or restructuring can lead to job loss or reassignment, which can create stress and uncertainty among employees. However, effective communication and leadership can mitigate the negative impact of these changes, ensuring that employees feel supported and engaged. According to Kumar and Singh (2011, p.12), “Job satisfaction (or the lack thereof) depended on the employee’s perception of the degree to which his work delivers those things that he desires – how well outcomes are met, or expectations perhaps even exceeded.” Jehanzeb, Rasheed, Rasheed, and Aamir (2012, p.274) “A sensation employees have about their work environment and their expectations toward work”. Additionally, Walmart can leverage technology to create a more efficient and streamlined work environment, enabling employees to focus on higher-value tasks. For example, automation and artificial intelligence can be used to automate repetitive and time- consuming tasks, freeing employees to focus on customer service, product development, and other strategic initiatives.
