            Two of the SOE Professional Dispositions I have demonstrated in a professional setting are Belonging and Growth Mindset from Professional Dispositions. A Professional Disposition is “attitudes, beliefs, virtues, values, and ethics addressing qualities of character, intellect, and care (Socket, 2006). I am a store manager of a Biggby Coffee shop with 20 staff members and multiple customers, and I use both belonging and a growth mindset daily. I can demonstrate belonging by creating a workplace where all employees and customers feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated daily. It is essential for me that all my employees feel comfortable enough to come to me about anything, work-related or not. I also encourage them to come to me when they need help, and we work on an action plan for their improvement together. Their action plans can be as simple as working in a different position than usual or challenging them to a more complicated task, such as adding more than one suggestive sale item in a single order. Another Professional Disposition and Ethic I have demonstrated while working is Growth Mindset. My baristas learn something different daily, and I always look for ways to improve myself. One of the challenges I face daily is meeting a daily cup count goal and a daily sales goal; I then have to encourage my baristas to reach those goals. I will take the feedback from store evaluations, customer complaints or compliments, owner feedback, and barista feedback and see where we can improve. I then take that, pass it on to the baristas, and help them where they need help.    B2a            The Dispositions or Ethics I need to improve are All Individuals Can Learn and Empathy. I want to improve in both of these areas because I am switching from a management position, where I mainly work with adults, to one that is more minor children who are still learning about their emotions and working with others while learning.             Actions Steps: ·         All Individuals Can Learn  – I plan to learn how to educate younger children and their different learning styles. I also want to know how I can adapt myself as a teacher to fit the needs of all the students in the classroom.  Learning different teaching techniques and how to use them for the entire class will make you a better teacher. ·         Empathy  – Because I am used to working with older adults, and I feel my level of empathy will need to change towards younger children to be more understanding and sensitive to the way they may understand different things.    B2b             The action steps I plan to take to improve All Individuals Can Learn, and Empathy will help me become the best teacher I can be and help educate future youth.  Justification All Individuals Can Learn  – through my time and studies at WGU, I plan to learn how to be an educator and how to teach children at different stages in life and learning abilities.
This will also help when I earn my teaching licensure, have my classroom, and teach full- time.  Empathy   – as a Next-Gen Candidate, I plan to learn how to be more empathetic with students, allowing them to feel respected and understood in the classroom. It will also help to create a safe space that the students want to be in. I also feel it will allow the students to find me more approachable when they are struggling and need help.  C1             I would use Communication and Integrity when collaborating with families, caregivers, and a larger community. Both of these will allow a way to keep an open communication with parents while maintaining integrity with all.  C2             Facilitating Learner Growth Communication  is the best way to keep parents and colleagues up to date and informed about a learner’s progress and where they have strengths and weaknesses.  Integrity  – “Demonstrating integrity leads to belonging, resulting in collaboration for mutually beneficial outcomes” (Moorman & Groover, 2009). By maintaining integrity, the relationship I could have as an educator with the learners and their parents would be strong and positive.  References Sockett, H. (2006).
