Career Studies Culminating Task – Final Reflections This assignment is worth 10% of your final grade. It should be a synopsis of your learning in the course this semester. Each question should be answered in paragraph form . Spelling and grammar for each question will be assessed ! Be sure to proof read your work, or have someone proof read it for you so that you catch any errors you may make. Go back at the end of the assignment and ensure that you have answered all components of the question. Some questions have multiple parts, be sure to fully answer all of them! Each question may require several paragraphs to fully answer the question. 1. What have you learned about yourself in this course? Make specific reference to your Multiple Intelligences, Values, Learning Styles, etc. How could this information about yourself help you to determine your future life choices? 2. What have you learned about your personal management skills? Make specific reference to: organization, time management, stress management and positive attitudes. Outline areas of your personal management skills that you still need to develop AND steps you will take to continue to improve these areas in the future. 3. You have completed a lot of career research. Explain what your ideal career would be and why, as well as the steps you will need to take to enter that career. Make specific reference to courses you will take in high school, any post-secondary education required (including key steps in the application process) and how you intend on paying for your post-secondary venture. How you will go about applying for jobs once you have completed your education? Explain the process of applying for jobs including strategies for excelling in the job interview process (including what you may or may not put on your resume and cover letter to get you to the interview point). This question requires a lot of detail. Take your time to include as much information as you can and be specific! 4. How does the knowledge that you gained about yourself in Career Studies help you determine your future educational and career plans? Be specific in referring to several course experiences to summarize your thinking. Be sure to mention at least 3 activities that you found particularly useful in your personal/career development. 5. Your Future – imagine your life at 30. Outline what your life looks like. Explain where you live (area, city, etc.) and with whom (Do you have a family? Do you live alone?). Explain where you work; what is the environment like (indoors, outdoors, travel, etc.) and what do you do? What is your salary? (Remember, at 30 you likely aren’t high on the employment ladder, be realistic). What do you do for holidays? What do you do in your free time? Paint me a picture of what your life is like. In your response, include everything listed previously and as many more details as you can. Hopefully, this class has helped you take the necessary steps to get you on your path.
