Accountability DEI Council Our Inc. DEI Council is comprised of senior leaders and ERG leaders responsible for ensuring enterprise-wide alignment and focus on our DEI strategy. The Council meets regularly to discuss DEI efforts and remove barriers to progress. It also provides quarterly updates to employees to ensure transparency and accountability. In 2022, the Council addressed a challenge consistently expressed by our workforce – the need for employees to be able to account for time spent attending ERG events. Recognizing that ERG events provide learning and development and are crucial to the company’s intent to foster a culture of inclusion, the Council drove implementation of a process that allows employees to charge time when attending ERG events, provided their manager approves. While our work is not complete, our employees’ dedication and commitment to fostering a culture where every person feels valued and that they belong is a testament to the progress we are making toward our DEI goals.” – Michelle Murphy, SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer, BAE Systems, Inc. “As a member of the Inc. DEI Council, I had an opportunity to observe how intentional focus on our underrepresented groups begins. In reflection, thinking of the goals from our Colleagues Advancing Racial Equity
(CARE) Vision teams, I am thankful to work for BAE Systems. Our company established a council, invited ERG leaders to the table, and encouraged us to contribute ideas that led to process improvements focused on making BAE Systems a better place to work, thrive, and succeed. I leave my seat at the council table for the next group of ERG leaders feeling safe, empowered, and heard.” – Gwen Moss, 2021-2022 President, African Americans Committed to Excellence (AACE) ERG 5 In addition to ERG leaders and members feeling heard, ERG membership increased by 11% in 2022
