Even though organizational change is usually tough, it is inevitable. Companies and businesses experience numerous challenges and so they need to adapt if they want to stay on top of their game. To adapt to the daily challenges of the dynamic world, organizations need to evaluate the internal and external factors that influence their initiatives and make the right decision for change. For my exploration organization change initiative, I will explore Microsoft Corporation, one of the top information technology companies in the US. Microsoft Corporation is a US multinational technological organization that manufactures personal computers, computer software, consumer electronics, and related services. The company is best known for its popular products including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows operating system, and Internet Explorer search browser. Microsoft was experiencing severe internal challenges before the hiring of its CEO, Satya Nadella, in 2014, who began conducting some major restructuring which eventually resulted in an increased stock price for the company (Singh & Ramdeo, 2020) . Even with the success of their top products, Microsoft was struggling to keep up with their competitors particularly Google and Apple (external factors). The tech giant was experiencing internal conflicts between departments whereby they were competing amongst each other instead of cooperating and working together as they were in the same company (internal factors). After Nadella became the CEO, he restructured the teams to eliminate the destructive internal competition (Singh & Ramdeo, 2020) . Microsoft platforms and products would not exist as separate groups anymore, rather, all departments started to focus on a limited set of common goals. In 2016, Nadella developed a new Research Group by combining their initial one with Cortana, Bing, and Information Platform teams bringing together nearly 5,000 computer scientists and engineers to focus on innovation. Before the restructuring, the workers were experiencing inadequate sense of purpose which reduced morale and restricted employee engagement.
