During this semester of linguistics for ESL education, I have learned a few different things that
will truly be helpful to me during my years of teaching English language learners. These different
concepts consist of interactive websites that are helpful for teaching and also different concepts
that need to be taught as well. The interactive websites are Flippity, Slidemania, and Nearpod.
All of these websites are great for teaching lessons that are interactive for the students and also
help them grasp a curtain concept in a fun, but educational way. This was my first class seeing
these websites or using them, and I am very glad to have found out about them and have
experience using them before becoming a teacher. It is nice to have experience with them
before going into a classroom setting, because now I already know exactly how to operate them
and add them into my presentations. The concepts were learned in this course were also very
helpful to me because they were ones that are important and will need to be taught in an
elementary setting. I now have more in-site on how to affectively teach these concepts from
making different FSN’s over each concept. Doing these assignments gave me time to get familiar
with each concept and know exactly how to teach them and what to prepare for in the future
teaching ESL students. I know it will be a hard challenge for some of these students to master
these concepts, but with the help of this class and assignments that were provided, I have a
clearer vision of ways to explain to them and hopefully help them in the best way possible to
succeed. Thank you for creating this class to be beneficial for teaching ESL students in the best
way possible for me to fully understand what is expected of me as teachers to help these kids
learn the best that they can.
