Strategic Scenarios Scenario 1: Tech Startup Specializing in AI Solutions Company : QuantumLeap AI Industry : Technology Challenges : Rapid technological advancements, maintaining a skilled workforce in a highly competitive market, adapting to remote work. Task : Teams will develop an HR strategic plan that addresses how QuantumLeap AI can attract and retain top AI talent, create a culture conducive to innovation, and manage a largely remote workforce effectively. The plan should also include training programs for continuous skill development and adapting to new AI technologies. Scenario 2: Retail Giant Expanding E-Commerce Company : GlobeMart Industry : Retail Challenges : Transitioning from traditional retail to a more e-commerce focused model, managing a diverse and widespread workforce, dealing with the logistical challenges of online retail. Task : Teams will create an HR strategy for GlobeMart that focuses on re-skilling existing employees for e-commerce roles, developing a competitive strategy to attract online retail talent, and implementing effective communication systems for a geographically dispersed workforce. To reskill employees to e-commerce roles we would need to train them and make an online course for them to take. It also might be motivating to provide a bonus or raise since they are required to learn a new skill. The classes provided would also be free. To attract online retail talent, we would recruit people who are small business owners and who advertise their products on their social media but maybe want to get into a bigger business. Offer sign on bonus’ and bonus’ for referring someone to the company. We also can put ads on social media to target our main audience. Implementing an effective communication system for our workforce that is dispersed globally would have to be online like a zoom call or email and if there are scheduled meetings it would have to work with the different time zones people may be in. Scenario 3: Healthcare Provider Embracing Telemedicine Company : HealthBridge Services Industry : Healthcare Challenges : Integrating telemedicine technology, adhering to healthcare regulations, and ensuring high-quality patient care remotely. Task : Students will outline an HR plan for HealthBridge Services, concentrating on recruiting healthcare professionals skilled in telemedicine, training staff for remote patient interactions, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The plan should also address employee burnout and work-life balance in a high-stress industry.
Strategic Scenarios Scenario 4: Manufacturing Firm Adopting Automation Company : DynaTech Industries Industry : Manufacturing Challenges : Implementing automation and robotics, workforce reduction and retraining, maintaining employee morale and productivity. Task : Teams are tasked with developing a strategic HR plan for DynaTech Industries focused on managing the transition to a more automated manufacturing process. This includes retraining programs for existing employees, strategies for potential workforce reductions, and maintaining a positive work environment amidst significant technological changes.
