Provide a high-level overview of cloud backup and recovery.
Cloud backup is the process of backing up one’s resources to a cloud server or another company’s servers that they offer as a service. Essentially, you or your company is deciding that instead of building a server network of your own it would make
more sense to use cloud backup. Cloud backup can be used for storing information like apps and other data that is important to you. Then if something ever happens to your physical device, you will just need to get a new device. Then you can recover the data from the cloud backup you made or scheduled on the old broken device. Research one of the following cloud backup and recovery applications: Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, or Amazon S3. Then provide a summary of the
features of this application.
Microsoft One Drive is one of my favorite cloud backup solutions to use. The main reason I like this software is for the version control or version history option. For Microsoft 365 applications you can enable the “auto-save” feature for your documents. These documents will automatically be saved to One Drive. However, the different versions of your documents are also being backed up too. Meaning that you can view all the changes you’ve made and go back to previous changes. I also enjoy the ability to backup files on my pc and on my phone using their service. Although, I have not used it for this yet and probably should. I don’t keep important files on my pc, so maybe it’s fine. The service also offers some security and support features which is nice to have. Discuss how you could use the application from our assigned readings as a student or in your own personal life.
As stated above, students can benefit from the auto backups and version history features. This would make it easier for them to go back to their previous changes and would also not need to worry about saving documents or if the program randomly crashes. This is also handy if they use multiple devices as they would be able to access
their documents anywhere. Especially if they are access school computers and then need to also have their documents at home too. References
