:
Cisco
HPE Aruba
Threat
Detection
Cisco security solutions are able to help eliminate threats across an encrypted network. HPE Aruba’s solution is not able to
detect threats over encrypted traffic.
PoE Analytics
Cisco DNA center offers PoE stats such as power load distribution and endpoint analytics such as power denied or faulty issues.
HPE Aruba does not offer the same high level of PoE analytics that Cisco does.
Wi-Fi 6E
Cisco offers one of the most extensive portfolios for Wi-Fi 6E access points to help fit almost all customers’ needs. While HPE Aruba does offer a wide range of Wi-Fi 6E support from mid-range to ultra-low end, but it lacks support for outdoor access points, dedicated scanning radio, quad-radio only offering a tri-radio operation with their no dual 5GHz and no environmental sensors.
Remote support
Cisco does support remote access points with automated workflows
and cloud-based security features.
HPE Aruba does support remote access points offering integration with third party vendors for cloud-based security.
PSK solutions
Cisco offers multiple PSK solutions
such as RADIUS and MPSK.
HPE Aruba only offers a RADIUS PSK solution lacking the MPSK feature.
Recommendation:
As seen in the table above, after careful consideration and analysis it is seen that HPE Aruba lacks a few key important features that gives Cisco the edge when it comes to WAP. Cisco offers a wide range of support that is highly important and efficient. The need for a WAP that can offer threat detection is a feature that will help filter out any threat that may come across the network. This is especially important if the work that is being conducted within the organization is classified or considered highly sensitive. Having the ability to do analytics is another important feature I think will be very helpful in case power failures or any type of disaster were to happen. The PoE analytical feature allows for problem areas to be pinpointed and then mitigated once a solution has been reached. Having the ability to allow and support remote access points is another major benefit that Cisco offers. Depending on the type of business this will allow the organization to support work from home employees, guests, healthcare patients, students, or any other type of pop-up location all while still keeping the network secure.
