Courtney Angran Southern New Hampshire University IT 409 Impact of Systems on Organizations Doctor Robinson 24/03/2024 Module 3 Activity End User Requirements With any website or application that I visit I expect the page to load quickly and together, I also expect the site to be easily navigated, with options worth value to me and with payment options that I already have like credit/debit card, PayPal, or Cash App for example. The first choice I made for this activity was an online retailer crateandbarrel , I have never personally shopped on this site, yet I have heard good things from close relatives. So far with quick observations they have many options that could be beneficial to an array of an audience like Wedding Registry, Free Design services, the option to be a trade partner, and a massive variety of household items covering every room in the house and the outdoors. There is no ability to compare related items or to choose items to compare. They do include the function to like/heart an item and add it to a list of your liking as well as the filter function to zone into certain types of products by price, color, pattern, material, etc depending upon the product being searched for. For me, I do not need a compare function to enjoy using the website or application if they include reviews, star ratings or rating systems, and dimensions/details on the product for me to compare products on my own. All the items I added to my cart were available and currently in stock, there are no local stores, so shipping is my only option. However, if one were close to a store, they could potentially just place an order to pick up or have free shipping to the store. There is a fantastic rewards system if you sign up for a rewards account with the store, for $360 worth of items I would have received $33 in earnings back. The standard shipping rate is $32.90 and my estimated arrival date would be 5-7 days. You can make your purchase using PayPal, Venmo, credit/debit card, or gift card. For non-furniture items you can either return the item to a store within 30 days at the location purchased, for online non-furniture items use the return label included with the item when it arrived. For out-of-stock items, you will have to pay a fee to put it back in the system to sell again, and for items still in stock a return to the original payment will be made.
The second site I chose to use for this activity is similar in nature and a website I am familiar with, https://www.wayfair.com/. Wayfair often has a multitude of sales going on as well as savings when you sign up for a credit card or use their credit card. Wayfair, like Crate and Barrel, offers a wide variety of household items at a discounted price. There is no option to compare options, however, the site naturally provides a slideshow of related items or items that are often paired with the product you are viewing. They also provide the ability to like/heart a product and add the item to your favorites list. Since I have used this site to purchase items before I enjoy the site enough to be on it and my only complaint is the overall layout, it feels choppy to me and does not flow the way I feel Wayfair should. Wayfair has some stores in various locations where you can purchase some products offered by the company, however, it is safe to say most of their business is done online through purchases being shipped. Standard shipping is free (arrives in 6 days), expedited shipping is $29.95(arrives in 5 days) for my zip code, and express shipping is $44.95(arrives in 4 days). Wayfair offers so many more payment options than Crate and Barrel does. Overall, they offer the following payment methods: Wayfair Credit card, Wayfair financing, Credit/Debit card, Klarna, Paypal, Afterpay, and gift card. For most purchases returns can be made within 30 days of purchase, for UPS or FedEx print the label provided in the return email confirmation and drop it off at a local store/station. For any purchases that are large, heavy, or fragile orders a specific time will be set up for return pickup when the customer can be present. For store purchases, return to the store within 30 days of purchase. Crate & Barrel Comparison Table Wayfair Easy to locate items in stock and available for purchase. Unable to compare related items. The website/app makes it easy to select which item you wish to return, and it will generate the options available for returning that specific item.
