Deloitte Toolkit Team 5: Offshore Consulting Stephen, Busta, Andy, Thomas Fact Pack Client StreamFlix is a digital platform that provides subscribers with a diverse range of iconic television series, films, and documentaries. Their primary audience is made up of females, who make up nearly half (49.5%) of their customer base. The majority of these clients are between 18-35 years old (33.5%), living within the country (67.5%) and earn an annual income between $40,000 to $80,000 (48.6%). Furthermore, StreamFlix is popular among the younger crowd, who tend to prefer affordable options over more expensive, traditional TV shows and films. However, StreamFlix is yet to establish a solid, loyal customer base. Challenge Adaptability is crucial to stay competitive in the streaming industry, especially with the ever-evolving media landscape. In order to drive user growth to new levels, StreamFlix will introduce a StreamFlix-specific social media platform that will work hand-in-hand with the existing product. StreamFlix is deciding whether the new product should be developed in-house or with an acquisition, and which design features are necessary to differentiate itself. Finally, to best implement this plan, StreamFlix needs a roadmap including the allocation of all resources. Goal Our goal is to increase StreamFlix’s user base and cultivate customer identity with StreamFlix’s brand and content. We want to introduce a rollout strategy for StreamFlix’s partnership and introduction of a social media platform to drive user engagement to new market levels. Ultimately, we want to give the world what they never thought they needed. Three Questions Consultants Should Always Ask Who is the customer? Our social media app’s main target market is couples, more specifically those in the 18-35 year old age range who are unmarried. This target market makes up the greatest demographic of people who watch movies while dating. However, due to the social media and movie suggesting features, our app can also be used by families, friends, and even those in platonic relationships. Watching movies is a favorite pastime to bring people together, and with our social media app we aim to enhance this favorite American pastime. What value am I creating for the customer? While watching movies is fun, the main problem is deciding a movie that everyone with their own preferences and desires wants to watch. Within the Taste app that we plan to acquire, each user will be asked questions about their preferences, as well as rate movies that they have watched so the AI can get a sense of their movie preferences. Once all the data is compiled, it will give off recommendation ideas for the user. Additionally, the user can link their account with their partner so that their accounts can give a shared recommendation for the two users.
What value am I capturing? The primary value gained by StreamFlix is the ability to cut down both the time and hassle of deciding upon a movie to watch. Watching movies should be a fun experience that everyone gets to enjoy, not an experience that tears people apart because they inject their own personal desires above those of the group. It is with our app that we will now be able to bring the fun and relaxation back into movie night. These features will not only set StreamFlix apart from its rivals, but also enhance the streaming experience for couples, families, and individuals across all age groups. Our goal is to combat the issue of aimless and unproductive scrolling, while virtually uniting those who have a passion for entertainment.
