The IT project that will be managed will entail creating a database system for a government
agency for use in their investigations process. The database system will need to have the
capacity to pull data from several different internal and external applications, integrate into the
agency's current system, and be released to the public within a year. The government agency
will utilize this system to conduct their investigations which is the agency's primary function.
The stakeholders involved in this IT project include the government agency, agency executives,
agency managers and employees, the project team or contractors, companies, law firms, trade
organizations, and the general public. As the stakeholder that initiates the project and to whom
the project team reports, the government agency and the executives representing the agency
would have the highest level of control. As the project sponsor, the agency and its
representatives control the project's resources and funding which has the most influence on the
success or progression of the project (Roseke, 2019). The agency executives enforce all
decisions that affect the project, as well as the requirements for the project, which also gives
the sponsor a higher level of control (Roseke, 2019). The users or the customers of the database
system would have a low level of control over the project. The general public, law firms, or trade
organizations that would need to access this database from the government agency are
classified as end users and therefore would not be privy to all project details and milestones to
have significant control over aspects of the project. However, the internal users such as the
agency's employees would have a higher level of control than external users since they can
reject or accept the deliverable if the primary functions do not meet the needs of the
investigation process (Barron et al., 2014). The project team would have a medium level of
control of the project as the team is responsible for the deliverables and completing milestones
within time and budget.
