Component 1: Clearly presents proposed solution
The opening section does a good job of introducing the potential solutions by having each
solution in a subheading (benefits of using social media, tracking tools for social media, and
virtual operations support teams (VOST) in emergency communication). Although it could have
introduced the several solutions in an introductory paragraph before reading, the author did lay
out the information in a way that it was easy for the reader to follow.
Component 2: Presents evidence of effectiveness and/or best practices
There is strong proof that these solutions operate because they are backed up by research
studies, educational papers, and related pieces. Using specific examples, like the Emergency
Service Interface (ESI) and multisensor integration, makes the dialogue clearer and more real.
Component 3: Includes relevant statistics, data, and research evidence
The author explained a plethora of evidence and data given for the problem mentioned.
Citing specific sources, like Dimiter Velev et al. (2012), Vieweg et al. (2010), and Simon et al.
(2015), makes the information given more trustworthy. Direct quotes, like the one from the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), strengthen the case and show how important
social media is in disaster communication. Additional information or studies demonstrating the
usefulness of social media in enhancing emergency communication, such as the proportion of
emergency warnings sent through social media vs conventional ways, could be another
component of research mentioned. The paragraph might be expanded to emphasize the influence
of social media use by including statistics on reaction times, public participation, or successful
results during emergency situations.
Component 4: Identifies challenges, counter arguments, and obstacles to implementation
The author does a good job of pointing out the problems, counter arguments, and
problems with counter arguments. This shows that the writer has a practical idea of how
complicated the situation is. Even though there are some specific examples in the text, such as
the Emergency Service Interface (ESI) and multisensor integration, more specific and thorough
examples could be given to show how these methods could be used in real life. Even though the
challenges and problems are addressed, the text could go into more detail about the possible
downsides or risks of using social media, tracking tools for social media, and VOST. The study
of the answers would be better if it was done from a fairer point of view. The author could look
into how the proposed solutions could work together or with each other to make a completer and
more combined framework for a solution.
