1. Share your top 3 ideas on how Analytics can further advance the value, convenience, or overall
attractiveness of using Netflix (or some other subscription platform). You might consider some of the
challenges in Netflix and how you think Analytics (and data) can overcome that. Details will be valuable.
2. Share your favorite movie of all time and scene if you have one. Links to the content are appreciated.
All content must be Respectful and Appropriate to Share.
My top three ideas are (1) Partnership to expand audience range and attractiveness (2) New Pricing
Strategy to advance the value and (3) Profile and Customer Segmentation for better personalization.
First, the analytics in netlifx could analyze the potential of partnership with Line or what’s app or other
social media company in order to increase broader audience like elderly. The analysis could start with
finding current user’s age groups and analyze potential users.
The value of Netflix would be greater
because of their broader target audiences and expand their global reach. For example, Line is a popular
social medial app in Thailand, Japan and Taiwan. Many elders in Taiwan have trouble opening an account
because they are not accustomed to technology. However by analyzing potential Line users who don’t
have a Netflix account in Asia could generate greater value by having customers to use Line app to log in
and expose commercials on those social media as well.
Second, by analyzing users IP and usage in different locations, Netflix could implement new pricing
strategy for users who are travelers or families who live in different countries. The current challenge that
Netfiix’s user faces is that a sharing account has to be within the same countries. Many families and
account users could be travelers and switching their location due to life changes. Netflix could potentially
research on these people and discover new pricing strategies for users who switch IP frequently. When
moving to a new country, rather than getting a new account accounts with more expansive rates, he or
she could remain his or her old account with only $1 a month.
Third, by analyzing the time, location, gender, time browsing for a show, and behavior on Netflix existing
customers to expand conduct customer segmentation and create incentive for audience to increase
loyalty. For example, customers that are heavy users but spend lot of time on browsing to improve its
recommendations system which could ensure customer loyalty and not have customers turn to other
platforms. More importantly, refining the recommendation system on the heavy browsers and or
showing genre that might be a new category for the users.

My top three ideas are (1) Partnership to expand audience range and attractiveness (2) New Pricing
Strategy to advance the value and (3) Profile and Customer Segmentation for enhanced personalization.
First, Netflix could leverage its analytics capabilities to explore potential partnerships with social media
platforms like Line or WhatsApp, with the aim of broadening its audience appeal, particularly among
older users. This analysis would commence by assessing the age demographics of existing Netflix users
and identifying potential user groups for expansion. Such strategic partnerships hold the potential to
significantly increase Netflix's global reach and attract a more diverse audience. For instance, Line is a
widely used social media app in regions like Thailand, Japan, and Taiwan. In Taiwan, where older
individuals may encounter challenges with technology, targeting potential Line users who do not yet
have a Netflix account could yield substantial value. Users could seamlessly log in through Line, and the
platform could even promote Netflix content on these social media channels.
Second, Netflix has the opportunity to implement a novel pricing strategy by analyzing user IP addresses
and usage patterns across different geographical locations. This strategy would cater to travelers and
families living in various countries. The existing challenge for Netflix users is the requirement that shared
accounts be within the same country. However, many users, including families, experience location
changes due to life circumstances. Netflix could engage in thorough research to develop pricing solutions
tailored to users who frequently switch IP addresses. For instance, when users relocate to a new country,
they could retain their existing Netflix accounts at a reduced rate, such as $1 per month, instead of
having to acquire new accounts with higher fees.
Third, Netflix can significantly enhance personalization and customer loyalty by scrutinizing data
encompassing factors such as viewing time, location, gender, browsing habits, and user behavior.
Utilizing this data, the platform can embark on customer segmentation efforts to provide more tailored
incentives and content recommendations. One potential focus could be refining the recommendation
system for users who heavily browse the platform. These efforts would contribute to higher customer
satisfaction and discourage users from turning to other streaming services. Moreover, introducing new
genres or content categories to cater to the preferences of these users is another avenue to explore.

My all-time favorite film is "TOP GUN: Maverick," which premiered in 2022. One particularly remarkable
scene features the main character, Pete Mitchell (by Tom Cruise), conducting a test run flight to
demonstrate the feasibility of the mission. This scene is truly captivating. It not only garners the
admiration of the students but also marks the moment when they genuinely respect their leader.
Mitchell shows them that he wouldn't require them to undertake anything beyond his own capabilities,
emphasizing his commitment to teaching them what he himself can accomplish.
