Question : The article Cloud Computing: Security Issues and Research Challenges (Padhy, Patra, & Satapathy, 2011) tries to describe cloud computing forms and types of cloud services available in the current market. Reading the article a question arises- Why are organizations increasingly inclined to transition to cloud platforms? What criteria do organizations use to determine and execute changes in infrastructure, architecture, and cost? How do the organizations plan and implement the migration depending upon the application need and what are the limitations if the services are not working as expected? Quote: "Cloud computing is empowering, as anyone in any part of the world with internet connection and a credit card can run and manage applications in the state of the art global datacenters; companies leveraging cloud will be able to innovate cheaper and faster." (Insights Desk, 2021) This statement suggests that cloud computing can empower the entire organization, allowing business units and client end users to redesign their architecture using cloud infrastructure. By harnessing the power of the internet and cloud services one can change the world with its true capacity. Big companies like Google, Amazon, Salesforce, etc tend to emphasize the power of cloud computing. Reaction : In my opinion, cloud technology is similar to renting something, but in this case, it's renting services and security via the Internet in the contemporary era. This can change the way we perceive data centers and their use cases. Users can access this cloud service on a pay-as-you-go basis, tailoring the capacity to their needs. As information professionals, firstly, we need to understand the pros and cons of cloud computing and make use of it in developing our career aspects. Additionally, we can utilize cloud computing to easily educate users, offer proper guidance, and provide resources, enabling people to leverage the benefits of cloud computing. However, there is a drawback that may cause us in the future as limited control over data may lead to security concerns such as data leakage, resource sharing issues, data availability problems, and potential insider attacks.
