In my experience the most common method of electronic communication is by email. Up until the past few years with the pandemic, although platforms like Zoom and Google Meets were available, they were not as widely, nor commonly used as they are today in a post-pandemic culture.
Email as a form of communication is best used to share large amounts of information and has the added capability of sharing files, forms, reports that can be saved to utilize later or as needed. Text messages are a good way to establish contact or ask for a more formalized meeting either in person or virtually. They can also be used to share information, but typically not for large amounts or lengthy responses. Virtual platforms like the two I mentioned previously, are good ways to collaborate with a peer, client or business partner to complete and/or compile information that requires input from both (all parties). Social media platforms (aside from their message boards that are typically used for short quick response much like texting) are typically best used professional to communicate with a larger group of people and mostly to advertise something that will create communication via another avenue to communicate with you.
