Data Governance
As part of data governance, internal data standards and regulations govern how data is consumed and ensure that their availability, accessibility, integrity, and security is maintained. By
ensuring reliable, consistent, and non-abused data, good data governance ensures data integrity. Businesses rely more and more on data analytics to streamline operations and inform business decisions as they deal with new data privacy laws and increase their use of data analytics. (Stedman).
In well-designed data governance programs, a steering committee, a data stewards group,
and a governance team are usually included. In collaboration with data stewards, they develop guidelines and rules for controlling data, and processes for enforcing and implementing them. Participation by CEOs and other business operations representatives is ideal along with participation by IT and data management teams(Stedman).
Data Quality
Data quality refers to an assessment of the condition of data based on factors such as accuracy, consistency, reliability, completeness, and timeliness. Companies can determine if the data in their IT systems is appropriate for its intended purpose and can find data errors that need to be corrected by measuring the quality of their data. (Stedman, “What Is Data Quality and Why
Is It Important?”).
Enterprise systems today place a higher priority on data quality since data processing is more directly related to business operations and companies are employing data analytics to guide
choices. Data quality improvement activities are often closely associated with data governance initiatives, which aim to ensure that data is utilized similarly throughout an organization. Data quality management is a fundamental part of the whole data management process. (Stedman, “What Is Data Quality and Why Is It Important?”).
Data Governance Frame work
A structured structure that guides the application of data governance in an organization is called a data governance framework, often referred to as a data management framework. It is the cornerstone of a program for data governance. It should give a clear visual representation of the steps involved in guaranteeing the discoverability, accessibility, security, quality, and usefulness of your data assets (Data Governance Framework). Data Quality Framework
A data governance framework is a collection of policies, procedures, processes, and standards that help businesses manage their data well. A clear structure must be established before beginning any data governance project. "Data management framework" is another term for a data governance framework (“9 Components to Build the Best Data Quality Framework”).
