SIX POINTS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOU WORK ON THE
BUSINESS PROPOSAL
1. How should Naomi approach the task of investigating a
variety of asynchronous video interviewing software
platforms for her organization?
2. What steps should Naomi take to assess how user-friendly the
asynchronous video software will be to prospective job candidates?
3. How should Naomi determine if the adoption of the
asynchronous video interviewing software will meet the needs of
the organization? 4. What information or benefits, beyond cost and
efficiency, might the asynchronous video platforms provide that will
assist the company’s recruiting and selection processes?
4. Are there any components that can be identified, utilized or
tracked that can assist in reducing employee turnover or increasing
job satisfaction – components that Naomi has found critical in
forecasting companies’ hiring needs?
6. How can Naomi ensure that the recruiting and hiring managers
will use the interviewees’ videos properly, ethically, and legally?
ASSIGNMENT – BUSINESS PROPOSAL (300 pts)
Prior to working on the business proposal, students should have:
1) watched the videos (links are provided on Page 2)
2) read the case (Page 2 - 6)
3) read the supplemental articles provided at the end of the case
(Page 7)
4) spent time reviewing and contemplating the six questions listed
at the end of the case (Page 7) to help
inform you about the elements that are required in the proposal
Given the information provided about AVI technology, as well as the
cautions and concerns, students should put themselves in Naomi’s
shoes and write a business proposal (see Appendix A for suggested
format) about the various asynchronous video interviewing (AVI)
software/platforms available on the market and how these could
best be integrated into her own company’s HR e-recruitment needs
and culture. This proposal should be based on both academic and
practical foundations, providing a minimum of 2 recommendations
(more will strengthen the proposal) to the Senior Vice President of
Human Resources. Consider not only the strengths and weaknesses
of the various platforms, but also the best fit of each platform to the
company’s culture, target hiring demographics, geographical
area(s), and industry segment (Please see below).
Important: the company where Naomi works is not specified
(intentionally) in the case provided above, as you are required to
identify a particular hospitality company in the real world (e.g., a
particular company in the field of hotels, timeshare, restaurants,
theme parks, or others of your choice; Marriott, Hilton, White
Lodging, Starbucks, Chili’s, to name a few) to which you will
customize your business proposal.
