Introduction
One of the first guidelines created to "manage large software projects involving enterprise
systems running on the core system" (Bourgeua, 2014) must be followed throughout the initial
analysis, system analysis, design, programming, testing, implementation, and maintenance
phases. The competitive development methodology, on the other hand, employs a distinct
strategy to enhance the system through process improvement by "using incremental changes that
focus on quality and detail" (Burourua, 2014).
Disadvantages and benefits of implementing a competitive development program
The competitive development programme is flexible in terms of prioritising requirements and
projecting expenses because the programme description necessitates a well-defined strategy.
There will be flaws in the way big businesses implement these programmes.
Unpredictability
: Step-by-step project management causes developers to lose sight of the bigger
picture and demand perfect outcomes, which can result in poor decision-making because of
worry about project schedules and unforeseen expenses (Friedman, 2016). Developers and
customers must devote more time and attention to this time-consuming and highly participatory
process of communicating with testers and customers (Friedman, 2016).
Absence of recordkeeping
: Unpredictable changes may result in incomplete documentation,
which may cause misunderstandings and other issues among the development team (Friedman,
2016). Consequently, there will be a greater likelihood of errors as a result of client requests and
misconceptions to alter the course of development (Friedman, 2016).
But if applied correctly and under strict control, like at a crowded mall or on a project that needs
to be finished swiftly. The competitive growth model can be advantageous for organisations that
move quickly, such startups and the technology sector, due to its flexibility. Teams with limited
resources and workers who frequently engage with clients will benefit from the capacity to
develop products more quickly and creatively. (Parsons, 2019)
