ANALYSIS STEPS: 1. Once the data was received from the professor, I transcripted the information onto an excel Google sheet. 2. I inserted their First Name, Last Name, Student Number, Assignment Grade, Midterm Grade and Final Exam Grade. 3. I first selected the rows and then clicked on “Data” to sort the data in alphabetical order. 4. I then calculated each student’s final grade for the class with the following information and function: Assignment: 20% Midterm: 35% Final Exam: 45% Function: “= D2 * 0.2 + E2 * 0.35 + F2 * 0.45” 5. I calculated their letter grade with the following table and function: Letter Grading 0-59 0 F 60-69 60 C 77-79 70 B- 70-72 73 B 73-76 77 B+ 95-100 80 A- 80-84 85 A 85-94 95 A+ Function: =VLOOKUP( G2 , $D$18:$E$25 , 2 , TRUE )” 6. I added in the bottom of the table, the class average of the assignments, midterms and final exam, as well as the overall final grade.
7. In order to visualize the table more clearly, I selected all the grade data and clicked on “Format” > “Conditional Formatting” > “Color Scale”. This helps visualize knowing who is failing. 8. Afterwards, I took the data for Assignments, Midterm and Final exam individually and made linear charts to be able to compare each data.

9. I then made a chart column chart that had each student assignment, midterm and final exam grade by selecting their names, all three data and clicking on “Insert” > “Chart”, followed by a few adjustments with titles and grid increments. 10. I made another column table that has the final grade with a trendline that I inserted by editing the chart then going on the vertical axis.
11. Finally, I did a pie chart that shows the average of students grade by letter grade. This is to visualize the whole data more quickly and easily.

CONCLUSION: After evaluating all of the data, I have come to the conclusion that a step-by-step analysis would be the most straightforward approach since it explains each choice made along the way. Using an Excel spreadsheet, I was able to gather the data and create the formulas required by the professor as the chart he created will be a great tool for future semesters; the chart will reduce the amount of time spent calculating his students' final grades. Additionally, he could enter the grades of each of his students into the appropriate cell, and our formula would calculate the final grade. Based on the data provided, it can be inferred that the class had mixed results in terms of academic performance. Although the failure rate of 14.3% may seem concerning, it is noteworthy that the majority of the class (28.6%) managed to pass. The overall average score of 71% indicates that the class performed reasonably well, but there is certainly room for improvement. Further analysis suggests that the students struggled the most during the midterm, indicating that they may need additional support or resources to better prepare for assessments. Encouragingly, two students in the class have achieved an "A" grade, which indicates that success is achievable for those who put in the necessary effort and dedication. In order to help students improve and achieve better grades, it may be useful to provide them with more opportunities for practice and exercises, as well as additional support and guidance where needed. By identifying areas where students need the most help, teachers and educators can create targeted interventions that can help students to improve their performance and succeed in their studies.
