The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn about the different phases of the selection process and to gain hands-
on experience carrying out an interview. You will have an opportunity to build an interview guide and practice interviewing
skills that will be invaluable in your career.

Instructions:
Please identify a Canadian organization for this assignment. You will be asked to research this company
and to select one of the job descriptions that are posted for hire for this company in the past 3 months (July-September
2023). Please refer to your identified organization to answer the following questions.
Part 1

1. Please provide a
summary
of the Canadian organization you have selected. Do include their mission, vision, values
and your rationale for selecting this company.
Reference any external materials.
2. Describe your
company’s hiring process
. You are encouraged to research their hiring process website(s) and
explain how their process works. Ensure you site all sources gathered according to MLA/APA.
3. What are
2 pros and 2 cons of your company’s hiring process?
For instance, if it an Applicant Tracking System
(ATS), how does that impact the candidate experience?
4. What is the
strategic objective
of their hiring process? List at least 2 reasons (e.g., is the company growing? Being
impacted by AI?)
5. Select
1 job posting
that you will focus on for both parts of this assignment. Include the complete job posting. This
can be included as an Appendix in your paper.

Explain why
your organization is hiring for this role? How does this role link to the strategic objectives of the
company? List at least 2 reasons
7. Describe whether the company provides an
onboarding or orientation when hired
. Discuss at least 2 benefits of
onboarding processes.
Overview
For your identified job description in part 1, you will have an opportunity to create an interview guide, rubric to score an
interviewee, and role play with each other the parts of both the interviewer and interviewee to practice using selection
tools for hire. Once you create the interview guide (1) and rubric (2) based on your selected job description, record your
interviews and submit the best interview you would like to be reviewed. Please answer the following questions.

Interview Guide.
For your selected job description in part 1, create an interview guide to use in the interview
simulation.
The questions should comprise of unstructured and structured questions.
Describe your rationale for your
interview guide.
Include your interview guide as an Appendix with associated KSAs underneath each question.
For
structured interviews, ensure you use proper formatting.
For unstructured interviews, suggest some probing questions
as follow up.
The interview guide included in your Appendix is not part of your page count.
9.
Rubric.
Create a rubric to evaluate
a candidate’s
interview. Comment on the design of your scoring key.
Summarize
the observations for the candidates and choose the one who performed best during the interview.
Include all
completed rubrics and the panel evaluation forms as an Appendix in your report.
The completed rubric and Panel
Evaluation Forms are not part of your page count.
10.
Role Play.
Each group member to have an opportunity to practice being interviewed. The other group members to
form a panel to interview the identified interviewee. Record each interview and select your best interview to submit for
evaluation (see Part 2 below for instructions).
11.
Reflections.
Each group member to share a reflection what you learned from the role play. How was your interview
guide? How was your rubric?
What went well? What didn’t go so well?
Anything you might change or do differently?
Optional Peer Evaluation and Feedback (for Report and Interview Simulation)
Enclosed is a peer evaluation form; if one of your team members did not contribute 100% effort to the project, you are
welcome to submit this to me individually on (and not before) your group has completed all portions of the assignment
(submission of the video, report and conducting a review with the Professor). If all group members contributed equally,
there is no need to submit a peer evaluation to me.
