SNHU 107 Module Five Journal Template Complete all parts of this template by replacing the bracketed text with your responses. Submit for grading and feedback. 1. Navigate to the following SNHU resources and summarize specifically how each will or may assist you in achieving your personal mission statement and short-term goals. a. Instructor feedback within the Grade Center The feedback within the grade center is vital to staying on track with each passing week. Feedback from instructors can be very helpful to ensure that you are on track. Thus far I’ve received feedback for my assignments that redirected and help expand my though process towards the week’s focus. I plan on using this feedback to ensure I am meeting the standards and competencies for each of my courses. b. 24/7 Drop-In Tutoring I understand the 24/7 Drop-In Tutoring is just that: available 24/7. I haven’t had a need for it just yet, but I do find it very encouraging that If I get caught up on a specific area I can tap into this resource at any time of the day. I do feel this will be a resource I will need more during my next term. I’ve already pre-registered, and I’ll be taking a math course. I’ve always been decent with math, but it has been a while and college level math will be a new challenge. Having access to a network that can help me in relation to specific topics is going to make obtaining my goals more realistic. c. Shapiro Library The Shapiro Library has a multitude of resources to help me through my program. One that I’ve been able to take advantage of is the “Citing Your Sources,” page. To no surprise I’ve had to complete a writing assignment each week since my program began. I’ve heard of APA Citing before but never had to use it. This page shows how to site all types of sources, books, videos, websites, authors, and many others; so, this resource has been extremely helpful. I can also use the librarian to help find books for different topics to help complete future assignments. d. SNHU Career Although I am already in my chosen field, I do know there is always room for growth and taking advantage of the career services can help align me with more opportunities that could propel me forward within my career. I also see that there are opportunities for networking, which I have learned to play a vital role in today’s economy. Sometimes it is who you know. e. One additional SNHU resource of your choosing Outlook 365 Email – I think is a vital resource as well. Email connection is a vital resource for all students along our degree programs. Thus far I have used my outlook email to communicate with my professors, financial aid as well as my advisor. Being able to reach out to each of these resources has given me insight into where I stand as a student, financial literacy surrounding my degree plan especially when it comes to financial aid and being able to understand how it works. I’ve had a chance to communicate with my professors directly and get a better understanding of what’s expected from my assignments. I’ve also had the opportunity to reach out to my student
advisor. She’s been very helpful in getting prepared for this journey. I also like the ability to get pre-registered for my upcoming classes. This allows me to have a plan for the next 8 weeks. 2. Include an example of social support and summarize how it will also assist you in achieving your personal mission statement and short-term goals. At the top of my social support group would be my family. My parents are huge supporters of whatever I set my mind to. I’ve shared with my mother for years my desire to pursue my degree. She has been very encouraging and pushed me to follow my heart. She helps me with staying on track by assisting me with my daughter in the afternoons. She makes sure that I have the time after work to focus on my studies and stick to my plan. My little sister also functions as an accountability partner. She’s currently studying at Columbus State University pursuing her master’s in psychology. We have our weekly check-ins where we go over how the week prior went, what’s working, what’s not working and how we could assist each other on this journey. These are both personal resources that help me with staying focused on my goals.
