Time Management Plan: Identify Black Holes
After completing the sample weekly schedule above, take a moment to reflect on the possible "black holes" that may impact your schedule (e.g., unplanned
appointments, procrastination, Facebook or other social networking sites, interruptions with children). As your textbook noted, ". . . most people find that they're
spending time on a lot of activities that just don't matter very much" (Feldman, 2014, p. 36). In the section below, identify
one or two black holes
and provide a
brief description (one to two paragraphs, using complete sentences) on how the black hole may impact your schedule and how you will reduce disruptions.
Black Holes Reflection:
I would have to say that the black hole that impacts my schedule the most is my children. I still have my children homeschooled 100% of the time. And I love my
children very much but let me say they do not think anything is wrong with coming into my room every fifteen minutes. So that is one huge distraction that I have
not figured out how to get over I have tried telling them when my door is shut not to bother me, that does not work. It is not like I can ignore them; I usually end
up getting mad at them and then spend more time trying to make up for me, yelling at them for asking me a question than I would if I just would have answered
the question. I have thought of changing my schedule, so I am up later during the night when they are asleep but then who will help them with their school. I am
considering hiring a babysitter for four or five hours a day so I can focus on my schoolwork.

Section II: Academic Mission Statement and Goals
Revision of Mission Statement and Academic Goals
Below, include a
revision
of your academic mission statement and short-term goals from
Final Project I
, which you submitted in Module Five. Use your "how to
use rubric feedback for growth" skills, and make sure you are considering the feedback you received from your instructor. Also be sure to clean up any written
errors in the submission. If you wish to refocus your mission statement, you are encouraged to do so here.
Revised Mission Statement:
My academic mission statement is to successfully complete a bachelor's degree program in psychology with a focus on addictions
in 2025. I plan to open a nonprofit organization called second chance ranch, where I take addicts in and not only work on their drug addiction but help them
learn a trade operating heavy equipment or driving a semi. I hope to provide a service where I can give people a better quality of life as well as giving back to
the community by helping clean up the streets.
Revised Academic Goals:
My first short-term goal is to take the organizational skills that I learned in this class and apply them during my next semester. I will know that I have
completed my goal when my schedule for the week is planned out and is executed effortlessly.
My second short-term goal is to hire a babysitter or find a daycare center that I can send my children to for four or five hours a day. I know I will have
accomplished my goal when I can work on my school without being interrupted every ten minutes.
My third short-term goal is to maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout my school. I want to do that by using the resources provided to me at SNHU, the writing
center, and the tutor. This relates to my mission statement because if I can achieve a 3.5 GPA through college, I can do anything. This includes getting
people off drugs and on to a productive life.
Section III: Social, Motivational, and Academic Support Strategies
Strategy or Amenity Alignment and Importance
As you consider your mission statement, academic goals, and time management plan, identify three specific strategies or amenities (resources) you are going to
utilize to help accomplish your goals. Consult the "Academic Support" menu link in your course for assistance identifying appropriate strategies or amenities.
For
each
strategy or resource, explore the following:
●
Identify the strategy or amenity and how it aligns with your mission statement, academic goals, and time management plan assignments.
●
Why is this strategy or amenity important for your academic success in an online environment? How will this help you address your specific social, motivational,
and/or academic needs?
Name of Strategy or Amenity One:
Academic coaches.
How it aligns with your mission statement, academic goals, and time management plan assignments
: I plan to use this amenity because it lines up perfectly with
my mission statement by planning on graduating from SNHU with my bachelor's degree in 2025. It also aligns with my academic goal of wanting to graduate with
a 3.5 GPA, and it will also make a good slot in my time management schedule.
Why it is important to your academic success in an online environment: it is important to my success in an online environment because you are getting one on
one treatment
Name of Strategy or Amenity Two: Drop off paper review.
How it aligns with your mission statement, academic goals, and time management plan assignments
: It aligns with my mission statement by wanting to graduate
with my bachelor's degree on time, it will help with my time management by keeping me organized by using that I will not have to have three or four rough drafts
on my computer. It will also help me maintain my 3.5 GPA.
Why it is important to your academic success in an online environment: It is important to my online success because it will give me a fresh set of eyes.
Name of Strategy or Amenity Three: Shapiro library.
How it aligns with your mission statement, academic goals, and time management plan assignments
: the Shapiro library gives me the tools I need to maintain my
3.5 GPA. It also gives me the knowledge I need to help work with people who have addictions. The Shapiro library will help my time management by allowing me
to find the articles needed to do the research I need to complete my work.
Why it is important to your academic success in an online environment: It is a particularly valuable tool to know how to use to be successful in this online
environment; if you do not know how to use the Shapiro, then you will not know how to do your research.
Section IV: Ownership of Online Success
Ownership of Online Success: Ownership and Measurement
Using the same strategies and amenities you identified above in section III, answer the following:
A.
You have identified three specific strategies or amenities that will help you on your path to success. Now, think about your personal
ownership
of the
use of the
strategy or amenity and its importance to your academic, social, and/or motivational success or needs in an online environment. Describe your plan to utilize the
social, motivational, and academic support strategies. Consider some of the topics we discussed during the course such as grit and communication skills in your
response.
B.
Now that you have identified your strategies and amenities and connected their use to your personal goals and needs, how will you
measure your own success
in
planning to use these strategies or amenities? For instance, if you commit to using the SNHU Writing Center, a measurement of success might be successfully
setting up a writing appointment at the beginning of your next term (or every term) to discuss support. How will you identify if you are using the strategies and
amenities successfully?
Name of Strategy or Amenity One:
A.
How will your ownership of this strategy or amenity support your success in an online environment? Explain: I am aware that communication with the
academic coach, professor, tutors, classmates is vital to my online success. I know I am using this successfully when I am connected with the resources on a
regular basis.
C.
How will you measure your own success in using this strategy? Explain: I will sign up for academic coaching at the very beginning of my term. I will also connect
with my tutor right away to ensure I am utilizing all the tools I have to succeed.
Name of Strategy or Amenity Two: Drop off paper review
A.
How will your ownership of this strategy or amenity support your success in an online environment? Explain: This will ensure that I am turning in the best
paper I can by using all my resources.
D.
How will you measure your own success in using this strategy? Explain: I will measure my success by the grades I get and never settling and never turning in a
paper I know is of lower quality work that I can do.
Name of Strategy or Amenity Three: Shapiro library
A.
How will your ownership of this strategy or amenity support your success in an online environment? Explain: This will support my success in every aspect.
It will ensure that I am getting the quality of information I need to turn in the papers required of me. I especially like the 24/7 library support; this will
help me reach my goal of graduating with a 3.5 GPA.
E.
How will you measure your own success in using this strategy? Explain: I will familiarize myself with the library and all of the perks that come with having access
to such a tool. I will measure my success by how familiar I am with the library.
