1.)
How would you rate the RHIT’s greeting?
I feel like RHIT greeting was said in a
professional manor “Good afternoon, Health Information Department. May I help you?”
but I would have also introduced myself, so the patient knows who she is speaking to, so
when the patient calls back, she knows who was helping her.
2.)
Did the RHIT respond appropriately to the patient’s request?
RHIT responds to
Janice question/requests in a professional manor, with sticking to the company’s policy
and listening to the details that Janice was having an issue with.
3.)
Do you agree with the RHIT’s reason for not releasing records immediately to the
new physician? Why or why not?
I agree, since these are a patient’s legal medical
records they must be authorized before handing them off. This is just based on the states
and federal guideline for a medical record. Just to make sure Janice Macdonald is really
Janice Macdonald and not a different person.
4.)
What is the significance of the RHIT using the patient’s name during the
conversation?
Using the patients name during the conversation showed proper equate,
professionalism, and respect for that patient.
5.)
What would you have said differently than what the RHIT said in the scenario?
I
would have introduced myself to the patient so she knows who she is talking to just in
case she must get a hold of me again she would know who to talk to. But other than that I
wouldn’t have said anything differently, the conversation stayed focused on the patient’s
concern and was done in a professional manor.
