A small company called Lost Pines Outfitters gives customers the option to purchase both
online and in-store. Lost Pines Outfitters is a store that sells outdoor apparel at affordable prices. It is a multi-faceted company.
Lost Pine Outfitters Components:
1.
Online Portal: Thanks to the user-friendly online shopping platform, customers can quickly explore and place orders from the comfort of their own homes.
2.
Retail Store: The real retail store of Lost Pines Outfitters provides opportunities for in-
person purchasing for individuals who enjoy a more hands-on experience.
3.
Warehouse: The company keeps its product inventory in a neatly arranged warehouse so that colleagues can locate the goods for both online orders and retail restocking.
4.
Warehouse Associate: Warehouse Associates are crucial to the process of fulfilling orders.
Prior to sending the order to the fulfillment department for additional processing, they first check the customer's order on the warehouse computer, search the inventory tracking
system for the desired goods, physically choose it from the shelves, and update the inventory system.
5.
Fulfillment Department: Order packing and tracking number assignment are handled by a
committed associate in the fulfillment department.
6.
Warehouse Computer: A computer that enables staff members to alter and update the inventory monitoring system in addition to reviewing customer orders.
In order to make it as easy as possible for customers to search for what they need and perhaps
make repeat purchases, Lost Pines Outfitters developed their web portal to be straightforward and easy to use. The system is as followed:
1.
Customer Order Placement: When a consumer places an order using LPO's easy-
to-use online platform, the procedure begins.
2.
Warehouse Processing: After that, the order is sent to the warehouse computer, where a warehouse associate carefully reviews and processes it.
3.
Inventory Retrieval: The worker quickly locates the needed item in the warehouse
by using the computer in the warehouse to view the inventory tracking system. They take the item down off the shelves, making sure the order is correct.
4.
Inventory Update: Once the item has been selected, the employee updates the inventory tracking system to reflect the successful collection of the customer's order.
5.
Fulfillment Department: The order is routed to LPO's Fulfillment Department, where a different warehouse associate packages it and gives it a tracking number.
6.
Shipment: The fulfillment staff member ships the order via USPS and changes the
order status from "processing" to "shipped" so that the customer is updated on the latest developments.
7.
Delivery Confirmation: After the shipment is delivered to the customer, a Fulfillment employee changes the status to "delivered."
8.
Customer Interaction: Following a successful delivery, the staff member shows their gratitude to the client by providing a letter of thanks and asking them to write a review to share their experience.
Like any other store, Lost Pines Outfitters offers a basic in-store experience. The steps are as follows:
1.
In-Store Shopping: When customers visit the actual location of Lost Pines Outfitters, they peruse the inventory.
2.
Selection and Checkout: The customer would take their selected goods to the register if they choose to make a purchase.
3.
Rewards Program: When the LPO cashier inquires about the customer's participation in the company's rewards program, the response is usually either yes or no.
4.
Rewards Program Information: If the customer is a member of the rewards program, they give the cashier the pertinent details of their membership.
5.
Total Price: After calculating the total purchase price, the cashier gives the customer the amount to pay.
There are two feedback loops in the Lost Pine Outfitters System at the moment. First, when a customer placed an order because of LPO's rapid delivery and great customer service, then when the consumer receives a shipment. An improved shopping experience is made possible
because both the online platform and the physical store consistently display the accurate quantity
of a product that is in stock. The second instance would be when a warehouse associate would

need to update the tracking system to accurately show what products they currently have so that customers can see it as well.
System Recommendations and Modifications:
There are two pressing operational issues that the CEO of Lost Pines Outfitters needs to address right now. Differences between LPO's inventory database and the inventory management
system utilized in their retail store are the root of the first problem. This is something that should be addressed with a methodical approach. This involves making certain that, following sales, all inventory-related technology is updated on a regular basis. In order to do this, the sales team must quickly and accurately log every product that leaves the store into the inventory database. In order to guarantee a steady and efficient flow of information, it is imperative that frontline employees, the warehouse crew, and management all communicate more effectively within the LPO. The single computer that serves the entire warehouse is the subject of the second problem. The CEO has observed irregularities in inventories, which may have been caused by the delays and operational outages brought on by this one computer. To address this challenge To solve the issue of downtime, I would advise the warehouse to invest in various computer systems. Purchasing a second or even a third computer system will offer redundancy and guarantee that staff members may use the inventory monitoring system at all times. By addressing the disparities brought about by system outages, this strategic approach not only reduces downtime but also aligns the physical inventory with the system.
System Model:
Conclusion:
In summary, systems thinking enables a person to see a system's operation by examining its constituent parts and how they interact with one another. Comprehending the interdependence
of system components enables you to address potential issues in a system such as the LPO. For instance, if a computer won't switch on, there can be an issue with the power supply or the cords.
We can tackle the issue of why this computer won't turn on by understanding how the various components of a computer function and interact with one another. Check the power supply first,
and then make sure all the cables are plugged in properly. Understanding systems thinking is incredibly helpful as it makes it possible to comprehend how a system can be improved or fixed.
