IT Project Selection and Implementation Failures
Because it is such a complex process, the adoption of information systems in healthcare organizations requires meticulous planning to ensure that it is successful.
Implementation steps: 1.
Kickoff and Project Planning. Form project planning and task forces. 2.
System choice. Choose the system to implement methodically.
3.
Contracting. Negotiate contracts for software, hardware, devices, consulting services, infrastructure, and other system components and services.
4.
Style. System and process redesign should include data interfaces.
5.
Growth. Create system files for numbering systems, providers, sites, and elements.
6.
Tests. System-wide module testing and application-module connectivity.
7.
Training. While the system is being designed and built, train IT personnel and project participants. Later, train end users.
8.
Release. Prepare the system site, go live, and deploy the system to end customers.
9.
Rating. After going live, verify systems' functionality. Feed the evaluation results and issues back into the process in an ordered manner until the system is running correctly and all issues are fixed. (Balgrosky, 2014)
