Overall Scenario:
Your unit is set to conduct a mobility mission across a bridge. However,
in order for you to ensure safe and smooth transport of the unit, the bridge must be reconnoitered for any potential threats or obstacles. Your squad has been tasked to conduct the bridge reconnaissance.
Conduct a Bridge Reconnaissance Overview:
A Bridge Reconnaissance is conducted to collect bridge data necessary to support operational planning and movement. Reconnaissance procedures are undertaken to provide dimensional data to analyze the bridge structure for the purpose of repairs, demolition, or load classification. Conducting bridge reconnaissance includes collecting essential bridge data, determining the road classification formula using the data collected, and preparing and submitting the reconnaissance report, DD Form 3011.
Bridge Reconnaissance Activities:
Collect bridge reconnaissance data

Scenario:
As with all reconnaissance, bridge recon is conducted to collect detailed technical info about specific bridges. It requires collecting several pieces of information to create an accurate survey of the bridge(s). Your first task is to collect/determine the necessary bridge data to provide the appropriate information to higher headquarters.

Task 2
: Bridge classification provides the basic _______________________ information necessary for the commander to plan for the use of the bridge.
Selected Answer:
a.
Military Load Classification (MLC)
Response Feedback:
Correct. Nice work, SSG. Bridge classification provides the basic Military Load Classification (MLC) information necessary for the commander to plan for the use of the bridge.

Task 3
: The NATO bridge symbol is another key resource for bridge reconnaissance. Several pieces of collected information are combined to fill out the NATO bridge symbol including the one-way and two-way wheeled classifications, serial number, traveled-way width, length, and overhead clearance. Looking at the NATO symbol your unit has completed, select the traveled-way width of the bridge.
Selected Answer:
c.
9.2 M
Response Feedback:
Correct. Nice work, SSG. The traveled-way width of the bridge is 9.2-meters, and is found on the bottom outside of the circle.
Question 4
10 out of 10 points
Task 4
: Your unit has given the bridge a serial number of 1, included a telltale overhead clearance sign before the bridge, and determined there are no railway bridges on the route. With this information in mind, has your unit collected all of the necessary information to complete DD Form 3011?
Selected Answer:
