Overall Scenario:
Your unit must build a Bailey bridge to cross a gap during a defensive mission. Prior to beginning assembly of the bridge, an engineer resource assessment must
be conducted to identify the exact amount of resources available, to ensure there are enough resources for the bridge construction. The unit will assess the availability of materials, terrain features that impact material availability, and construction capabilities.
Conduct an Engineer Resource Assessment Overview:
Engineer resource assessments are conducted to determine the location, availability, and suitability of existing engineer resources within an assigned area of operations (AO). The information collected is reported on DD Form 3015, Engineer Reconnaissance Report, and is used to report engineer information requirements not adequately covered by any of the other reconnaissance capabilities.
Engineer Resource Assessment Activities:
Collect appropriate resource assessment information.
Prepare and submit a DD Form 3015, Engineer Reconnaissance Report, to higher headquarters.

Question 1
10 out of 10 points
Activity 1:
Collect appropriate resource assessment information.
Scenario:
The reconnaissance focus of an engineer resource assessment is to collect detailed technical information about the availability of materials, terrain features that may impact the availability of materials, and the local engineering and/or construction capabilities that may be useful to engineer support. Your first step is to review the mission directive and prepare the preliminary plan.
Task 1
: While reviewing the mission directive you will need to: Select all that apply.
Selected Answers:
a.
Verify the purpose of the assessment
b.
Confirm the area, route, or location of the assessment
d.
Verify the timeline for assessment completion and submission
Response Feedback:
Correct. Nice work, SSG. When reviewing the mission directive, you should verify the purpose of the assessment, confirm the area, route, or location of the assessment, and verify the timeline for assessment completion and submission. Additionally, you will need to confirm information requirements (IR) and confirm higher headquarters reporting directives.
Question 2
10 out of 10 points
Task 2
: Which of the following should you include in a preliminary plan? Select all that apply.
Selected Answers:
a.
Conduct a map review of the route (or routes) to be taken and areas to be reconnoitered
c.
Establish a time schedule
e.
Organize personnel and equipment
Response Feedback:
Correct. Nice work, SSG. When creating a preliminary plan, you should Conduct a map review of the route (or routes) to be taken and areas to be reconnoitered. establish a time schedule, and organize personnel and equipment.

Task 5
: While conducting the engineer resource assessment, review the local engineering and/or
construction capabilities including which of the following? Check all that apply.
Selected Answers:
b.
Labor
c.
Equipment
d.
Contractors and firms
Response Feedback:

Question 6
10 out of 10 points
Activity 2
: Prepare and submit a DD Form 3015
Scenario
: Collecting the data is important, but preparing and submitting the DD Form 3015 is how you’ll communicate the engineering resource assessment data to higher headquarters. Your unit will not be able to move forward without accurate detailed technical ferry reconnaissance information.
Task 1:
Which of the following information would go in the header field of DD Form 3015 shown here?
Selected Answer:
d.
1:50,000
Response Feedback:
Correct. Nice work, SSG. The scale, which is 1:50,000, goes in the
Scale field of DD Form 3015.
Question 7
10 out of 10 points
Task 2
: Review the field notes your unit took down while conducting the engineer resource assessment, then determine what information goes in the highlighted DD Form 3015 field shown below.
