Three Step Training Method 1 DEMONSTRATION Learner sees demonstration of the correct way to do a task from a certified trainer or an entrain video. Using entrain materials the certified trainer explains pertinent details and the “why” behind the steps. 2 IMITATION The learner imitates the correct way to perform a task using training materials at the job station. Meanwhile, the certified trainer observes and coaches. Coaching includes specific feedback as to what the learner is doing correctly or incorrectly. Good coaching is clear, concise, specific, and immediate. 3 REPETITION After imitating precisely, the learner then practices repeatedly. Additional coaching from the certified trainer may be necessary. Repeating the task ensures doing it correctly becomes second nature. DEMONSTRATION 1
2 Best practices are to use Pathway videos and/or hands-on demonstrations, along with pamphlets, to show team members the Chick-fil-A way to do the task. It is not necessary to show the video and do hands-on demonstration. You and your training director may find that one task is easier and faster using hands-on demonstration with the pamphlet, but another is better to use the video. Determine what works best for you that allows team members to learn the correct procedure and understand the whys behind them.
